Good morning, everyone. I have a question I'm hoping someone can give some insight or help with. I just recently purchased the Viessmann 5100 crossing gate. I also have a Marklin m84 decoder. I wish to install the crossing into my layout and, hopefully, use the m84 to integrate into my digital system. Major question, is this combination possible or not? Is there anything I need to be aware of? Both items are new and have not been used. This will be the first accessory for me on the layout. I am waiting for the crossing gate to arrive, shipped out to me a few days ago but I have the m84 in hand already. Thank you in advance.

Brian, did you get the complete system with the relay box? The M84 is programmable for momentary and delay or constant switching. The instructions should explain how. I only use M83's for turnouts. My crossing lights are Viessmann and use the flasher unit so I just use a two pole rocker switch. No automatic trigger.

No, I didn't draw one. The flasher unit has labeled negative (ground )and positive terminals and it is easy to keep the wiring in that order to the switch and the lights. The switch is on the positive wire between the flasher and the lights.

The Viessmann 5100 is a unit capable of:
- analog operation using contact tracks You dont need anything else
- digital operation suing a Märklin 60832 (same as for turnouts) or the Viessmann equivalent


Since you say no automation you may not have a feedback module (60881)
These are used to detect a zone (around the level crossing) and associate an event on your CS3+ to open / close the gate depending on the occupation of the track section

Hello Brian,

The 5100 set comes with an electronic control box included.
You connect your power power to the electronic control box, and then connect the flashing lights and boom sensors to the box (both up and down positions).
Then it all operates from the equipment provided.

Activating the operating procedure is done via a sensor in the train track.
You can use a Marklin 24994 Circuit Track to activate the procedure.
(The Marklin 24994 can be connected to an outside circuit independent of the Marklin current supply)

No need for Marklin equipment M84 nor M83 nor s88.

For information :
A friend of mine has a Viessmann 5100 set where the electronic control box is defective.
I have assisted him by programming an Arduino micro-controller to operate the rail crossing.
