I bought the Marklin 2862 set, and the DB Locomotive BR111 is analog? How do you convert the locomotive to from analog to digital?
Thanks in advance!!

I remember that set when new. I have the same locomotive, item 3311. It had a Siemens electronic reverse unit. It has plug in type socket light bulbs. My then dealer installed a Delta decoder. What you with need depends on if you want sound. You can leave the motor alone, and just use the digital decoder for classics. It doesn't have speed control acceleration and braking compensation. Otherwise, you will have to change the motor to a 5 pole armature commutator and a field magnet vs. keeping the 3 pole armature and the field coil windings. If you want LED lights, you will also need to change the sockets and the bulbs and add resistors.

Hi Rick, Vist my web pages see link below and select "My Tips Section" then do a search for 2859 which is a similar version to 2862. Let me know how you go with your project. I was thinking the standard digital decoder maybe the 4 pin or 8 pin, I saw from Marklin. This locomotive has the LED lights.
