Hi In theory there are model numbers - 3000 analogue locos with mecanical direction relay - 3300 analogue locos with electronic/mecanical relay - 3500 analogue locos with 5 star motor - 3600 first digital locos with C80 initially - 3700(0) elaborate digital locos with C90 decoder (inertia and speed adjustments, 1 or 5 fonctions) - 3900(0) elaborate sound digital locos with mSD2
The problem is Märklin releasing so many locos went rapidly out of numbers so later, adherance to the above rule was not guaranteed
One good way is to get a hold of a Kolls Preis Katalog. I have one from 1993 and although very instructive it is a bit too old. 2018 down to 2015 could be the best option and many are available second hand. Later edition don't have pictures. Caution: for a given year, you have "Bands" (don't pick the wrong one): - locos - cars and wagons - special editions It gives all the variants of a particular model and the market prices For models past 1999, you may have full details & exploded diagrams on maerklin.de Cheers Jean |

Yes Delta is a full digital protocol using Motorola (MM2) and the MS2 can drive such a loco Delta restrictions - limited number of possinle addresses 24, 60, 72, 78, 80 - light brighness linked to speed on some models Cheers Jean

The delta decoders generally do not have any functions on them.

With the delta decoder (4 dip switches or solder bridges) you can select 15 different addresses, (see: https://wiki.3rail.nl/in...rklin_6603_Delta_Decoder for the addresses) that can be used with the mobile station 2 The delta controller however let you use only the ones Jean mentioned. 90% of my loks are retrofitted analog or delta's with 5* motors and Mld / Msd or ESU decoders..... Well, actually there are 15 addresses available (all switches off is analogue mode). The first four addresses given above correspond to the four positions of the Delta controller selector switch, and also to the four positions of the selector switch on the IR controllers included in start sets. Address 80 (all switches on) was only available on Delta controllers with an additional handset.

Some 33xx locos are Delta. Some 34xx locos are analogue, but most are Delta. 39xx locos are analogue loco kits for self-assembly. Some 39xxx locos do not have sound. Some 30xxx locos are analogue, some are Delta. Some 37xxx locos have mfx. |

However, you can use the old Delta controller in booster (slave) mode, lowering the power draw on the master unit driving the layout. -terminology is not a social endorsement- Then it only provides supplementary power, digitally managed by master controller, but does not create an interfering digital signal. Use booster to power switches and signals (and their decoders) and track-powered lights. It makes a noticeable difference. Ben |

Latest Delta locos are better than early "full digital" 36xx locos. Delta locos never have load regulation AFAIK, so I usually avoid them or buy them with the costs of an upgrade in mind. But they can be run on a digital layout, but do not come up to modern locos with load regulation. |

Googling 602759 brings up eg the moba-hgh.de site with more information. (same site has more information about the 60760 decoder) wiki.3rail.nl is also a good source for different Märklin models and variations.
