could be of interest:

ZIMO MS decoders also operate in the mfx data format (Märklin). These decoders (equipped with a suitable sound
project, in the future also non-sound decoders with a "decoder project") can register themselves with mfx DCC
command stations, which then show the correct icons, names and images in the cab display.
In the near future, (almost) all common ÖBB and DB locomotives will be available in the best 16-bit quality and
mfx capability on the ZIMO Sound Database. There are also Czech/Slovak sounds and those of SNCF vehicles.
Some exotic sounds from Australia will also be added soon.

Great to see that the housekeeper also is part of the Zimo team, one doesn’t see that often these days. This is the reality for many MR suppliers well known for us needs: Small companies of 1-5 persons, sometimes production in Asia.

I see forward when Märklin will start use Zimo sound decoder that works better than Märklins own mfx decoder. Lets hope when it will happens.

Hi Goofy,
It won’t happen don’t count on it. Märklin parted with LENZ over decoder issues and royalties and Roco parted with Zimo for similar reasons.

Zimo are private electronic company that are produce digital system and sound decoder.
Just Like ESU too.
Märklin did cooperated with Lenz for MM decoder for many years ago.
Parted? You mean divorces? Not sure what you mean...

Roco is in Austria, Zimo also, and Roco still uses their decoders as far as I know.

Although Zimo seems to be the Rolls Royce choice of decoders and digital systems I can't get around their digital components, its to far advanced for me., a person who grew up with the computer and learned all about it, knows all the technical words, it may be a breeze for them for me its just another language, I still got a new Zimo sound decoder from a Roco ÖBB Rh 1144 loco and can't do anything with it, the CV's aren't the same as ESU so I can't manually change them, tried to program a long address and failed miserable., in the end I gave up, I've talked to someone at Zimo, he helped me but with out luck, it just doesn't think in, I'm contemplating sending it back to ZIMO and see if they can program it for me.,

I have no problem by use Zimo decoder. Just follow Zimo manual of the decoder. Some of the CV adress you must use program track to change value . Even to reset decoder you must use program track.

how do you change an address to double digits ? how do you change the constant braking distance ?
you can use a lokprogrammer as well

They (Zimo) use railcom? An issue with a CS3 for mapping cv values. Some, not all can be adjusted. I didn't mess much as the br 218 runs great with factory settings. only the volume is too low, and it came already maxed up, so it only goes lower. This may also be due to a plastic body shell.

Simple use CV 29 configuration and CV 18+19 by set higher adress.

That is a prime case for using JMRI and a suitable DCC command station. JMRI does all the calculation of required CVs and sets the appropriate bits to turn long addresses. You will probably fine that the Zimo definitions in JMRI will allow you to set up the other things you want as well.

I have been working with zimo decoders for a while now. The are very nice in driving and sound indeed. I do bought an MXULFA back then, so programming is far far more easy. The paid sound projects from Henning, Leosoundlabs and others are just great and not that expensive.
