I am from India where Marklin service or dealers are not present. I bought it on ebay UK in 2016.
It rotates but the rail tips on the turntable do not mesh with the M track on the layout.
The turn table stops about 1/2 a centimeter off the track hence can it be used to turn steam
locomotives. If the switch is activated it does exactly the same at the next stop. It rotates both clockwise and anticlockwise.
Can any one suggest a solution.
Thanks

Hi Malavika
The probable reason for this is the latch / Locking bar (the piece under the rotating bridge) that detects a hole centered on each access track.

Normal operation
- the bridge rotates until the next access track
- the latch enters into the hole centered on the track
- doing so, 2 things happen: (1) the motor is switched off and (2) the latch also locks one shaft in the transmission to stop IMMEDIATELY the bridge (even if the motor continues running. There is a clutch to take care of this.

In your case I believe:
- the latch is entering the square hole (because it stops the motor
- the latch (locking bar) does not go far enough to lock the transmission and to get the bridge to an abrupt stop
- the latch (locking bar) can be unlatched by pressing one of the 2 buttons on the command panel. This activates the solenoid

Here is mine in operation while opened (Identical to the 7186 but earlier "DeLuxe" version called 410NG)

I hope this helps

Thanks everybody for all the help. My 7186 Marklin HO Turntable has been fixed with the help of a local person in my town Pune India. We both tried several things and fouund the plate had a slight bend orwas warped, hence the whells when rotating were not always making contact, it was not absolutely flat. We used a metal press and restored it, now it is flat and works fine.
Thanks again for all the inputs,
Kumar India
