Alan, is that Page 59? I don't see a Giruno train, but a Dostro long distance double decker. I checed and rechecked. These will run from Basel to St. Gallen, and Zurich, not through the Cenari base tunnel.
I am liking the br 143 "white lady" too.

I'm surprised they're already announcing another ÖBB steam loco Rh 77 for 2023 but haven't delivered the new items for 2022 for a black version.
SBB Re 4/4 11108 has been very popular with the HAG version and has been on sale second hand many times (AC & DC version), I've bought 3 with 2 the same loco number 1 x 11103, I prefer the DC version as you don't have to change the motor which can get expensive.
I don't like their steam locos as the main drive is in the tender
Roco has always been a manufacturer who manufactures foreign locos mainly from the former eastern block and it looks like people from these countries have taken up the hobby and also can afford to buy them now.

Good news is that Zimo sound decoder are MS type which means there is mfx protocol. Zimo do have better sounds than Märklin. |

Wonder how many 3R version they will get sold of Dm3 900  OK, Märklin was crazy made but it must be wasted production investment.......... |

The Roco model is not "Made in China" AFAIK and it has many separately applied details. That probably explains the higher price. More decoder functions are cheap - just add some silly sound functions, the modern decoders have enough memory anyway. |

Roco also makes some Locos in Vietnam, which cost's about the same as in China. Romania is a bit more, but still a bit less than in Hungary. My br 38 #39380 box says Germany, and was priced over $400, and has intricate seperate details also.

In fairness to Roco- and I really appreciate them for this- they charge notably less for the Vietnamese production items, which are usually older toolings and simpler models. my BE 4/6 in AC (no sound) was $185 new a few years ago. Compare that to Marklin at $550 and the Roco was a very easy decision... (and nicer in several ways such as the roof detailing) |

Dont know where my Marklin BR24 was made but it runs well and I could buy two for the cost of the Roco. Maybe I am missing some detail but as I dont know what It would be so does not bother me. |
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer. |

Rocos new BR 038 are expensive but there is lot of functions outputs.
With Zimo sound decoder MS... and synchronized steam puffing smoke!
Better than Märklins BR 38?

Perhaps? If it weights a bit more like the Roco br 218's do, it's in the frames. Albeit, the drivers cabs aren't as large or detailed as Marklins. The dynamic smoke adds realism.
Is it like saying was the Opel Senator or Omega better than the Ford Granada/Scorpio?
