Hi
Several of my lok's have been digitized with mLD decoders with the 21 pin carrier board, is a 21MTC ESU loksound decoder compatible with the carrier board? e.a. can I just switch the decoder without rewiring the carrier board?
Secondly, can you program the sound files on a "empty" loksound decoder with the ESU Ecos ( 3.5.7 firmware) or can it only be done via the LokProgrammer?
Regards
Jean-Pierre

Yes. If you are going to fit a sound decoder the speaker wiring is the only additional wiring to consider. Originally Posted by: cintrans Secondly, can you program the sound files on a "empty" loksound decoder with the ESU Ecos ( 3.5.7 firmware) or can it only be done via the LokProgrammer?

I don't know, I think you need a Lokprogrammer. But your dealer should be able to load the sound file for you, and then you can tailor it using CV changes using your EcOS. The only difficulty comes if you want to add other sounds to a sound project, then you will definitely need a Lokprogrammer.

Jean-Pierre You can buy the decoders with a particular sound file loaded, or ask the dealer to - but really if you're going to be doing a few, do yourself a favour and buy the lokprogrammer. It is so much quicker and easier than trying to fiddle with individual CV's etc. |

That depends on AUX3 and AUX4: AFAIK they are always logic level with ESU decoders, but are always amplified with MLD decoders, but with MLD/3 they can be configured either way. No problem if neither AUX3 nor AUX4 are in use. |

ESU has a special decoderversion with amplified AUX3 & AUX4, named MARKLIN.

You just have to make sure whether it requires 21MTC according to NEM 660 or 21MTC according to NMRA standards. Originally Posted by: Goofy In Märklin digital locomotives manual it stands a warning.
