Hello, After the 2.4.0 update, the static IP address I use is not memorized by the CS3+ after each session... The only way I found to keep it alive, is to save the data after each session and restore them at the beginning of each session... Is there another way to have the CS3+ memorize the Static IP address ? Thank you for your help, Francois.

Are you shutting down the CS3 or just switching off at the wall? |

The shutdown process should be saving all of the changes in a session automatically without the need to backup and restore every time you start the CS3. Odd.. |

Hi My CS3 remembers its IP address without any problems (I use a direct Ethernet link with Rocrail) The key is to set the CS3 into manual mode (so that it does not ask and receive a different IP address using DHCP) Here is the IP configuration on my CS3 Note: even in this manual mode (CS3 IP address is fixed), it is recognized and talks to my wifi router with any router configuration Note: following the shutdown process is important but it already happened to me to inadvertently power-off the CS3 without causing any IP issues. But I certainly don't recommend such a brutal shut down which can lead to CS3 data corruption Cheers Jean |

Hello Jean, I think this screenshot is from the previous version of the software. This is also what I had before upgrading to v.2.4.0, and it was saved after each session... In the new version, the option "manually" is not there anymore, instead, at the bottom of this screen you have a button to "Add" a "Static IP address"... And this Static address is not saved automatically at the end of each session...

Hi That is true, the screen copy from a previous version Here is the same screen (Lower part of screen, the upper part is empty) with version V2.4.0(5) Of course, if you start filling the upper part of screen you may be activating the dynamic address (DHCP) Cheers Jean |

I don’t fill the upper part. Like shown on your last screenshot, I fill the static address fields… And this is what is not saved when I shut down the CS3+. I have to re-input all these datas at the beginning of each session…

I don't know the difference between your CS3 and mine as mine remembers the static address without me doing anything. It remains unchanged even when connected to a WiFi router with an internet connection The possibilities are: - your CS3 has a failure - there is a bug in the new s/w possibly when is sets itself to DHCP it never comes back on manual (static) - you fill incorrectly the fields or there is an issue with your shutting down procedure.
What do you connect your CS3 with? and using what software? On mine connections work with: - Rocrail - CS2.exe - VNC Viewer - Chrome internet browser
All with a static address. 192.168.0.23 My PC is a 64 bits HP Pavilion with the latest Windows 10 version What is the address you use? (there are conventions on the addresses - cannot use any address just like that). Just try using my address (initially set by the router) Jean |

Looking further into this with the CS3 connected to my PC I have the following screen This shows in my case that the CS3 has stored my address in the DHCP mode, showing there is clearly a bug in this version V 4.2.0 (5) I would try to add a static address ("Statische IP") USING your PC and browser (AND NOT the CS3 directly). It may offer a turn-around the bug Jean |

Jonjean, can you please tell me what is in this update before I do it? I don't keep my CS3 connected to the web, so the ethernet I.P. address is still blank. Cancel! I found Clapcotts' post of the descrition. Thank's just the same!

Hello Jean, I am using a HP laptop under Windows 11 to connect to my CS3+. When the static IP address datas are entered, the connection works well between the PC and the CS3+. The only issue is that they are not saved by the system from one session to the other... I will try following your idea to set the static IP address through the PC browser...

I did the update, and an intermittent message box appears for a few seconds saying "the decoder was read". I was not loading any new items or a loco. Nothing new on the layout. It appears randomly when I select a different Loco. from the list, or open the edit Loco menu when only looking at a Loco's settings, not changing them.

It's either the S-88 module, or an M83 decoder. I think it has always done this, as it beeps like it always has when the reading box appears. I think something in the update makes the read progression box appear.

Hi It happens that after an update, some MFX locos are not fully locked with the CS3 (Did not happen to me this time, all locos responded immediately). One simple solution: to bring each loco to the program track and edit it (but without changing any settings) this forces completion of the MFX registration. Here is a screen showing that the MFX is about to be complete. Will be when pushing the OK button. Cheers Jean |

For CS 3 / 3+ use the provided MAC-ADDRESS shown under Ethernet Settings in CS 3 / 3+ or CS 2. In your Wifi-Router insert the MAC-Address under "Manual" IP-Address Reservation - Area ( if your Wifi-router support this - most do ) Enter the MAC-Address for CS 3 ( or CS3+ or CS2 ) and assign a valid IP-Address inside your Local Lan-Area. Example for 3 Centralstations i my SetupMAC-Address DEVICE-Name Assigned IP-Address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx CS3-60216 192.168.1.100 xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx CS2-60215 No1 192.168.1.101 ( your IP-Settings may be different from mine ) xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx CS2-60215 No2 192.168.1.102 xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx = MAC-Address shown i CS 3 / 3+ or CS2 When this is done and the Wifi-Router has been rebooted, your CS 3 ( or CS3+ ) / CS2 - Units will " always" have the same permanent IP-Adresse, when your Centralstation's are switched ON. because of the IP-Adresse assigments. Remember to take a Backup of the Wifi-Router's Configuration if something should go wrong. Use the http://192.168.1.10? - lines , in your browser to get access to the CS 3 / 3+ / 2 - Webserver and save them as a Link's in your favorite Browser. The Http: - lines should be easy for you to remember in the future If you get more Centralstation for your Layout in the future - add a new line in the Router Configuration For use with CS 3 / 3+ or CS2 i will recommend the use of these Browser-plugins for Google Chrome / Firefox / Edge - browsers :Google Chrome : Google Chrome - Speed-dial-fvdEdge : Edge - Speed-dial-fvdFirefox : GROUP SPEED DIAL ( FIREFOX )The Browser-plugins gives you "graphical" overview for your Local Links and your Internet-links |
CS3+ 60216 ( SW:2.5.2 ) / CS2 60215 ( SW:4.3.0 ) / MS2 60653/57 ( SW:4.28 ) / MS1 60652 ( SW:1.8 AP ) / 60883 S88 LINK ( SW:1.1 ) MDT 3 (SW 3.6.0) - HW: ( 60970 / 60971 / 60801 ) & ESU LOKPROGRAMMER ( SW 5.2.12 ) / ESU HW: 53451 / 53900 / 53901

By golly that worked! It seems it was my 43630 intercity cab control car. As soon as I opened the configuration menu, the decoder was reread in the various stages. No more read message.

I have, in the past, accessed my layout and a club layout with my iPad using a Safari browser. Today I tried to access my layout for the first time since the update and failed. After trying a number of options with no success i used the Microsoft Edge browser and was able to gain access without making any changes to anything.
