Many Swiss and German models. No American but the new Swedish RC6 with cars is already pre-ordered! This year i can focus on building a layout with Faller Car System digital and Win Digipet and some older models and the 37984 and the new Insider models. Probably also the Rainbow ICE. |

Anything for Era 1? Yes. A very nice set with the High Stepper. I was able to get my preview from Another Source. Accompanied by death threats etc. |

Hello, Euro Prices 2022.I hope this might be useful to some, but I have copied the Euro price list from the German 2022 Neuheiten catalogue. It might save you download time if you need it for the EN version. I don't know how many already committed to Roco's SBB Ae 3/6 and how many may have been waiting and will now consider the Maerklin model. Of the top of my head, it seemed to me that the headlamps are a little overdimensioned.
Some (like Armando) might already have the AC version of the earlier Fleischmann model.
Personally, I might have been interested in a model for the period 1968-1980. The 1950s is not my focal period.
The 47462 offers additional cars for the 47461 set. I had already ordered a pair of those to have a total of 6 cars. I am still waiting for my dealer to let me know they received my items. I am now wondering if I should cancel one of the two sets and go for a total of 5 cars instead (47461 + 47462).
I wonder if Maerklin could change the broccoli for raspberries for me instead?
The 37300 is an interesting set. So far, Hag has offered at least one of the two IRSI models. I don't know if the "Rheingold" one has been released too. What would have been interesting would have been if Maerklin would also have released models of the AAE Sgns with the type of containers used for the last few years for Sugar Beet transport.
Another item that should be of interest to old school Swiss modellers is the tin plate FS coach set. These coaches could be found on trains running through Switzerland from Germany to Italy and from France to Italy. They would look really nice behind one of the classic 3050 or 3014 SBB Loks, maybe with a 4015, 4017 or 4038 at the end.
Regards
Mike C

Giruno (actually Girduo) Maerklin and Piko
Both trains have a total overall length of 2.3m As described in the Maerklin video, the Maerklin model will be in exact 1/87 scale. I immediately noted three differences in the description.
1) The Maerklin model is described as coming with factory installed LED lighting. The Piko model mentions a separate lighting kit is available with a list price of EUR 22,99. If you actually need 11 of these, this adds significantly to the cost of the model. (+ EUR252.89) 2) The Maerklin model mentions having digitally controlled pantographs (mechanical). 3) The Piko model is described as having detachable end caps with coupling socket to enable the connection of two trainsets. This feature is not mentioned in the Maerklin flyer.
One of these models will be finding it's way to me. I just haven't decided which one yet.

I guess if your railway runs around the garden, then there will be room ... But would they actually couple two sets together on the prototype? Or is this just so that a loco can be coupled to get it out of trouble if it breaks down?

They announced the ICE 3 with "1:87" in the catalogue, but it is 1:89 and the width is also reduced. They announced the ICE 4 with the "1:93.5" symbol, but it rather is 1:95.5. It remains to be seen if the length in this case will be exactly 1:87. |

Maybe three, also LSmodels. Even if we know what's the average time between announcement and model availability for LSmodels. We are still waiting for Rheingold 1985 coaches announced in 2011. All shops report digitally controlled lighting of coaches and destination plates. So the lighting kit is strange.

Yes, lots of cool items! The Austrian Croc. is nice, and the new couplers for lower buffer height. I wonder if I need them to stop some derailments? I noticed the br 38 shows as having a bell, but there isn't a bell function in the function menu shown.

I like the BR52 and the Ae3/6 as well as 3 or 4 wagons. I don't the kink in the smoke deflectors of thr BR52. The prices of the coaches (and not only) are excessive, and the out of 1:87 scale of them doesn't help.

I like the kink in the deflectors of the BR52, makes it look more 'badass'. I like my BR53s for that feature too.
Lets hope it comes in Era2 version as well some day (like they did with the BR42), maybe even with 4 axle condenstender or steiframentender. It is understandable it comes with the standard bathtubtender first, maybe the special tenders are something for a 2nd insider model someday.

Still about the BR52, it also has only 2 headlights, so I will wait for a more standard Era III or IV version with the tube tender (like the just announced) but with 3 headlights and normal Witte not kinked smoke deflectors.
Other feature I would like in a model like this is dynamic smoke.

What do you think about the new couplers? 72000, 50 pack.
They are said to be lower in profile or high, likely to accommodate for the NEM height of the buffers.
If it works I'm thrilled!
Hopefully the Swedish Rc 6 will be a treat. I've been buying Roco Rc (3R-version) for the last years.
I'm disappointed Märklin still do not make the slim double slip, nor expand the C-rail-program. |

The Minitrix offerings have a rather nice Era I loco and wagon set being issued for "150 Years of the Vizinal Railways".
The loco is a K.Bay.Sts.B D II, a very nice looking little tank engine. The wagon set looks very nice as well.
BUT I can't find any reference to any offerings for "150 Years of the Vizinal Railways" in either Trix H0 or Marklin. So I wonder if there will be something offered for this commemoration in the Summer or Autumn NI for H0.

It is really nice though even if they aren't actual SBB locos. I will most likely order the 30350 Italian loco and coaches, having just got myself a 3035! I also like the BR52, the smoke deflectors are quite kinky and as I don't have any kinky smoke deflectors or BR52's I will order one. Beer cars are a given so I will order the 45029 beer car. I like the 42988/42989 Munich to Nuremberg Express coach set but again at 610 € RRP I've already talked myself out of it.

Roger Roger, Perhaps you could consider the Piko Ae 6/6 in red, which is very much late Era V? There are also the assorted RBe 4/4 (540) models from Piko. For me, the Giruno is going to be expensive enough that I am glad that there is not much more I am interested in. Regards Mike C

We need some modern 80s cars for the new Rc6 engine If they like to use the old 60s passenger carriage sets (1:100), we should have expect different individuals of SJ S6E (copy link) and not like this fantasy design creation of AB3 1/2class och B5 2class. SJ only made a number of old 60s passenger carriages with black design to be used as charter/event trains wagon called S6E... A question about trademark disruption |

I was hoping that the interesting "dynamic smoke" feature would be the "new black" henceforward for all newly retooled steam locomotives...wishful thinking. Disappointed to notice that the BR 52 will not have it. Hope to see the new SJ RC locomotive in either era III or IV orange livery in the coming years. Wishing for retooled SJ cars at correct 1:87 from Märklin may just be a waste of energy. For these, I should hope that Roco obliges with a reissue in the coming years. Not very many choices for me this year. No orange Austrian crocs! No new Bavarian, Prussian or Württemberg tank locomotives! The BR 06 is, of course, a must for me. And as a die-hard lover of tin plate, I will order the FS consist and locomotive. I already have the Fleischmann SBB Ae 3/6 in brown livery and with a metal body (yes, by Fleischmann in its heyday, before it became a child of a lesser god...), albeit without sounds. Still considering whether or not to order the stratospherically expensive (Chinese-made) Märklin one.

Does anyone think they are being conservative with new Locos. or digital functions due to the chip shortages still? Some seem redundant to me, like the br 38. A new one was just out for 2020. The differences being the triple headlight, unless I'm already forgetting it also has switchable rear marker lights.

I dont understand why? The smoke output is just too much. I have a class66 loco with dynamic smoke. If I consume an entire smoke fluid filling there is so much smoke in the train room it gets almost hard to breathe and everything smells bad. Almost up to the point you get tears in your eyes. This is not the case with regular smoke units. My room measures 4m x4m, so it is not superlarge, but also not very small either. Maybe you need to be a cigarette smoker to appreciate the smoke (I am not), or run your trains outside in the fresh air? I rather have Marklin spend my money on more electronic features like lights or sounds than on a unhealthy smoke generator. 1 locomotive with dynamic smoke is more than enough. B

Perhaps I'm the odd man out here. Its a lovely catalogue with some beautiful trains. I have no complaints at all, but at the same time there is nothing for me I have the Fleischmann Ae 3/6 in brown and green with modern digital electronics, and they are both so good (and metal!) that I see no need to swap/upgrade to marklin. The SBB Re 4/4 in blue and cream rheingold colors I'd have gone for, but I can't justify a 2 pack of locos to get it. I already have two of these in the original TEE livery, a third does me no favors. The one thing I REALLY want is that SBB Lichtstal buffet car, but I'm not going to buy a 5 car set I already have 2 of (in various eras) to get it. Hopefully it will come for separate sale later... I guess this is good for the wallet. The Roco catalogue was similar, a few curiosities but nothing rushing me to a preorder. I think I may spend my pennies this year on a Piko Ae 4/7 and perhaps an Rbe 540; both have whish were on my list forever. I was hoping for a Marklin or Roco Ae 4/7, but funnily enough they gave us the Ae 3/6 instead. |

That is one possibility, I have heard mention that there does seem to be more of an emphasis on rolling stock this year, where in years past there have been complaints about the number of locos in the catalogue. Maybe the chip shortage has caused them to pull back on items containing decoders a bit - although there are enough cab control cars with mfx decoders in this offering.

Was hoping for a BR 012 given they updated the BR 01 , but alas nothing.. just a re-release of the Piko version from several years ago, which I already have (which has a non-switchable aka always on smoke generator option, and incandescent bulb lights - ugh). Maybe 2023. |

Hello all, The Märklin new items for 2022 is a dazzling array. I feel lucky to be at a time and place where these things are available. The re-issue of the 1960s FS electric and matching brown coaches is a beauty. 30350 and 40360. The 65 class steam engine should make era IV fans happy. 39651 and 41236. And there is plenty for era VI. I am taken with the rolling stock variety and particularly the CFL Class 66 diesel T66 714. 39066. Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain are all there in one catalogue. I am constrained however to order much (apart from the new couplers 72000), I do not have the room to store them all. Incidentally I found plenty of photos and videos of the CFL T66 K714, often in areas around Denmark. Kimball |

I really think Flash Dave needs to order the Flash Container Cars. Just the thing for the carpetbahn in the back of the Cave.

Some fun items for young beginners! Kimball, storage is an issue for many. I suppose it's why some sell items they don't run much anymore.
