Hello everyone and thank you för letting me in here!
I have a question about märklin 7028,if it is big enough to park my br53 there
Another question regarding the turntable from märklin, the same br53 can it work on the roundtable?
Best regards/Stephan Höglund, sweden

Even if it has the tub tender (rather than the condensation one) I doubt it will fit on the turntable. Measure from the first axle on the loco to the last axle on the tender. The length of the deck must be easy to get a measurement of. I only have a Z scale model of this loco. Had a full size one ever appeared it would have to have been turned on a triangle or wye such as was done in the US with UP Big Boys etc.

It would be helpful if in your initial question you actually stated what a 7028 is rather than us all having to Google it or look in a catalog - I'm assuming you're talking about the metal roundhouse!

I have a metal roundhouse, a 7186 turntable and a BR53 with condensation tender so I guess I could pull all 3 out and see if it fits.

You could also check if the catalogs give measurements of each and work it out from there.

For example, the 1980 catalog shows

3104 BR53 314mm length over buffers

7186 360mm outside diameter

The 1975 catalog shows

7028 460mm x 370mm x 135mm

From that you can deduce that the BR53 would most likely fit.

Hi,

Märklin Br53's lenght is 31,4-35,5cm depending on which variant we are talking about.

Here are 7028 and 7186 dimensions.

I haven't got a Br53 so I can't check it. At least you can use the "drive through" track, but I guess that the shed doors can't be closed.

Cheers

My 33021 BR53 does not fit on the 7186 turntable - it overhangs by about 40 - 50mm. 3104 might just fit on the turntable - I measure the bridge length to be 310mm on the outside rails (centre rail is 305mm).

33021 doesn't fit inside the roundhouse either but could easily sit on the drive through track as Åke suggests.
