Hello,
My locos and database from my MS2 has suddenly vanished! Had recently completed a second block section, but that was working well, then suddenly everything disappeared. My turnouts and single signal are still in aux, but nothing in the loco side!
I have one engine that has a MFX and it paired . I have a 37956, Le Capitole 28590 and a Texas Pacific 3781 that I need to reinstall.
I don’t know anybody nearby that has a Marklin station to reinstall the database and my knowledge on digital is very limited. Any advice on how to get my database back and how to manually add my locos to the MS2 would be very appreciated.
Nephew arriving next week!
Many thanks
C

Hi!
The database is the list of all digital non-mfx locos made by Märklin.
The loco list is the list of the locos you registered with your MS2.
Which list is missing?

Regards
Tom

Hi
The database. I had to re enter my non mfx locos! Would love to have the database back, seems I have to find a person with a central station perhaps?
Cheers

The files can be transferred from MS2, CS2, and CS3.

It's just a file in the file system - it can get lost or damaged. It should not happen, but shit happens.

Hi,
Like on any data-processing system you may lose data. You may call it the way you like.
In this case, sadly, it is permanently lost.
One way to avoid losing data is NEVER to unplug the MS2 from its track box but to cut the power first.
It leaves an advance warning to the MS2 to close its key files before the power cut occurs.

Another good practice is to maintain on an Excel sheet, the key parameters of all your locos (Address, Accel. delay, Brake delay)
It allows to re-create the database easily.

Note: the database is only for Stand alone (with a track box) operation while in slave mode the loco list is downloaded from the CS2 or CS3

Cheers
Jean

The database is the list of all MM and FX locos ever made. It is stored on every MS and CS.
The other thing is the loco list. It is stored on the master and used by all slaves.
