Hi all,
I have a few Maerklin 3000's that I would like to convert to digital.
I'm seeking advice on the cheapest way in which to do this bearing
in mind that I am not interested in all the bells and whistles.
Not that one could get much into such a little loc. but I may be
very mistaken.
Thanks
Jay

The cheapest way will be with a 60906 decoder. By sing this decoder you do not need to change the motor to a DC motor so that will save you some money.

Hi, also Uhlenbrock 76200 will do the Job with the original motor. Not mfx, but with load control.

Hi John,
thanks for the affirmation. It is also cheaper than the maerklin one on ebay.
So in the process of getting a couple. As this will be a first, I think that I will be needing help when it arrives
and will appreciate all the help that I can get.
Warm regards
Jay

Hello, the 76200 works fine, but sometimes it needs some fine tuning trough CV.
Having SUSI plugs, you can later add sound modules if you want
Here is the link to an old topic when i first installed them, there are some suggested CV values to work with, and also the experience with intellisound3 modules.
