I bought this Crocodile 15 ish years ago with no knowledge of whether it was uncommon or not. Having subsequently come across information that it could be rare or possibly a counterfeit, I decided to do some research. This has left me confused and I’m hoping someone can suggest from some basic information whether it may be authentic. Here goes; the body is plastic, the cab number is 13303, the box has stickers on it with 3359 on the front, back and both ends. I’m happy to provide additional photos or information if it will help.

My interest is not in whether I overpaid or not but more that in the eventuality that I start to downsize and sell it that I’m not misrepresenting it9F6F9374-F742-413D-8FEA-0F7FAC730C10.jpeg

Looks like the real deal to me. 13303 on the side of all those listed in the below link. Look at these:

I believe Marklin 39569 made from metal is the rare Snow Crocodile.

Previously discussed https://www.marklin-user...alue-for-39569-snow-croc

3359 is also a snow crocodile, a 1988 special series item - Kolls 2020 value 280€.

39569 is metal bodied, has a C Sine motor, was issued in 2004 and possibly only 1500 were issued. Kolls 2016 special catalog value is 660€ (the latest special catalog I have).

I keep thinking its about time Märklin issued a new one - it's overdue! (And in case anyone from M is reading this, I'll buy it!).

The 3359 above looks real to me as well, but as BigDaddy says, not the rare one.

Thanks for the responses. I’m pretty comfortable now that it is authentic even if not rare. My primary concern is with not misrepresenting it should I decide to sell it at some future date. My concern came from seeing a list of Crocodiles and manufacture dates that showed the 3359 as having a metal body however, there have been other descriptions on the same list that appear to be inaccurate.

Thanks again,
Alan

Hi all,

I cannot speak for the 3359, but the 39569 I know has been counterfeited. (unfortunately I bought one and fairly quickly realized it was not genuine...)

Your 3359 looks lovely though!
