Hi all,

Yesterday I received my first Van Biervliet loco, a 'reeks 62' diesel (VB-9118.05) to go with the M2 pushpull carriages I ordered (Marklin 43542). This is a typical consist I could see often where I live until 20 years ago.

Now there is a problem with this loco, the slider does not seem to have enough playroom, and on switches and decoupler track it has a tendancy to lift the bogey up. When running extremely slow the loco can get stuck on elevated contact studs, and when running fast it jumps up and sometimes derails.

As I really want to keep this loco, I would rather want to fix this issue than send it back. For this purpuse I am looking for an extremely thin slider to replace the existing slider with. The replacement needs to be ~40mm in length. The mounting of the original slider in integrated into the bogey cover so some improvisation to mount it will be required.

Any ideas/tips/order codes?

Thanks in advance,
Bert

Ibertren art. 9001 is very thin. However, I neither have exact dimensions nor do I know if it is still in production.

Hi Bert
A picture of the slider zone on your loco would help a lot
The thinnest sliders are usually the Flüsterschleifern that have no plastic frame (like Roco 86033) as the Märklin 144133 (52 mm long) or the Brawa Silencio 2225 (50 mm long). The exact type is difficult to say without having the loco in hand (length of slider and fixation method (screw, clip fastening)

Another possibility is that your slider is improperly adjusted: it must be able to retract past the rail top surface by 0.5 mm and it should not be pushing too much (spring blades must be straight and not curved.
Cheers
Jean

In the mean time I have been able to adjust the slider and the running has improved: no more derailments. This was due to movement in the length direction, which caused the slider to move beyond the cutout forseen for it in the bogey. It is all very thightly spaced, the loco is really designed more for 2rail operation than 3rail I think.

I have found this one in the meantime: https://www.haertle.de/M...+0mm+Metall+Spur+H0.html It seems very close to what I need.

Roco whisper slider thinner? Has a padded cushion. A properly aligned and sprung Marklin shoe makes almost no noise, I read by one forum member.
