Let's use this space for all 2009 Toy Fair reports.

All my appointments are for tomorrow, so today we just
walked around train hall and observed. Marklin booth
is there, of course, and usual crowd of onlookers watched trains on
layout. Major 2009 new items are on display.
3 Krock set looks very impressive and so does dealer's Toy Fair lok. Gray mouse Gottardo looked very nice, it's even better look with 6 cars. Ther is a stand with new 4MFOR items.

Let's wait and see what they tell me tomorrow.

Now here is your chance to support M* by pre-ordering '09 items.
Worst can happen is they (or some of them) will not be produced...
Just received e-mail from somebody asking if it's OK to order LGB, Marklin and TRIX and will they be around next year.
Wanted to ask him back how sure is he that HE will be around next year, but thought better of it. [}:)]

Pictures might have to wait till we get back.

Cheers,
Mike<s></s><s></s>

Mike, I have to stay employed and if I do, I would really like the Grey Mouse. My wife and I rode that on our honeymoon. An elderly Italian couple gave us their seats by the windows, because they had ridden that train many times, and they saw how excited we were on the trip from Milano to Lausanne. We will never forget them or visiting Italy. I also would love to have the 3 crock set. Look at what 3015's and 30159's are going for and you can see that the 3 crock set is a good deal. Thanks for the update and take lots of pictures!!!!

I know that today is the official first day, but it seems that information, notably photos, has not been quite as forthcoming as in year's past.
I was especially hoping to see photos of the Maerklin Re 620, Re 4/4II 37356* and Re 10/10* to see if the errors in the flyer had been corrected.*
I would also love to hear more about the latest from LSM, ACME, RailTop and VI Trains.

Mike, you are much more diplomatic than I! I would've sent that answer, or one more along the lines of: "I shall let you know as soon as the smoke from the burning of the goat entrails clears. Shall I look for signs of your future in them as well?"

But seriously, I just keep wanting to shout: "People, RELAX! There is no way a 150-year old company like Märklin is just going to disappear. Somehow, someway, it will survive. How can I be so sure? look at the history of another little toy train company called "Lionel". Too many people have been involved, and have too many emotional ties to Lionel to just let it die, and it has been rescued more than once, nearly gone under more than once, yet it still survives. I imagine Märklin has a far bigger following, with even deeper roots.

It's very much business as usual for the time being at M*.
Company will go through some sort of restructuring, but no
change to delivery of new items. Met with Walthers and Marklin
USA personnel and everyone's opinion is that Marklin is not
about to disappear off the map. Dave, your comments are spot on.

I've got blown away at Viessmann stand; they took their e-motion
technology to next level and now they have moving people and
machinery and the sound to boot, although cows sounded as if they
were having an orgasm (I never heard such passionate mooo-o-o-o
before)biggrin

Preiser did not dissapoint and this year they had two babes wearing very little and looking amazingly life-like in 1:1 scale...wink

I took lots of pictures and short videos but it has to
wait till the 10th. I'm sure somebody will post something before
anyway.

A somewhat interesting report from the Nürnberg 2009 fair is available at http://www.skala-n.dk/. Select the link "Nattog til Nürnberg.. rapport fra messen." from the front page.

Unfortunately it is in Danish and the Märklin/Trix news are mostly about the Danish and Swedish models. But it does contain some nice pictures - also from other brands.

If your Bundeskanzlerin, is associated with Märklin in the title, sounds like a national issue there...
That gives us some hope, I think Kingsbridge thought they can earn easy cash, because they can stick an high price tag on something cheap manufactured in China.
Now that they found out that isn't true, they are dropping it.

The new 6021-connect #60128 was as well shown and should be available soon (probably also latest with the next CS update in April).

Mr. Preiser is known for his eye catching ideas in conjunction with the intro of new products at the toy fair. Two years ago his designer showed the first steps of creation for a new figure on stage - very impressive! More of this can be found here: http://preiserfiguren.de...ge.php?SiteID=48#9001;=1

Nice photos Mike. Thanks

BTW, I couldn't help but noticing that the meat in #27 is not equipped with a digital decoder and that the Preiser figures in photo 22 do not come equipped with an on/off switch. I also noted that the same figures also come with the right size railing (to keep people away.)biggrin

Too bad it wasn't Preiser that was in trouble. I might have taken one of the models of their hands.Smile They look really good for 60 years old.

Hope you had a good trip

I really like the idea to have a "middlestep" between the MS and CS. But does it mean that I can use only boosters 6015/17 with the MS-II and not the new 60173 confused

Look at slide #09. There is a pic of the Br-23 with the decorative silver rings.

If more power is needed, but a CS-II not (yet) desired, the known Booster Connect #60129 can be used.
...

I really like the idea to have a "middlestep" between the MS and CS. But does it mean that I can use only boosters 6015/17 with the MS-II and not the new 60173 confused

/Torbjörn

The 60129 might be acceptable for divesting accessory load and possible sections that will never run mFX. But, as you say, only if you already have a (spare) 6015/17 booster.

Lutz can we please have some more details about the MS2s connection and the "Booster Box".
Can a 60173(mFX booster) be used ??????? with a 60125(terminal) maybe ???

I have said in the past that if you could combine games with a digital layout you might get a new customer segment.
