Hello my friends

Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the cogwheels Marklin 267310 and 267320? They are very very similar, but different.

If anyone could bring some light into this, I would be very thankful.

This is likely a close held secret.

Seriously, this could be proprietary information by Markin.

Maybe someone scanned each item and has this information. I have not seen it anywhere on the web.

I am having trouble with the last BR050, the 4 cogwheels came all mixed in a zip bag.

One of them is different from the others but they look like the exact same.

I need to buy a caliper (probably a digital one with very high definition).

Otherwise I am in trouble!! Of course I could try all the possible combinations, but I am afraid I can damage some of the parts.

Ok I looked it up in the Märklin online database
The exploded view is here

Z gauge BR 50 exploded view

You have indeed 3 small ones and one slightly bigger one
The exploded view shows where the bigger one is located (between 3rd and 4th coupled axle)
Simply count the teeth, there are not too many anyways.
Use a marker to put a ink dot on tooth "1" and count all around from there.
No caliper needed, just a magnifying glass...which you should have anyway if you have decided to take apart Z-gauge locos and attempt to reassemble! Wink

Good luck and tell us how you fared!

The idea to count the teeth is genius !!!! As the IT techs say K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid)!!!!!

If the locomotive wheels are all equal, the larger cog wheel must have more teeth (with the exact same dimension).

It never occurred to me. I was about to start complicating things.

Hi Great, I understand your issue.

When you get everything figured out, I suggest just using the controller in short bursts and less than than full sustained power. I also try forward in short bursts and to the rear in short bursts. Just to reduce the possibility of damage.

I know you will make certain all other issues are within standards. Wheel timing, clean gears, motor lubricated etc.

Hopefully, it will work out for you.

No problem.
Now , specifically to the reassembly, the largest one probably will have to be inserted last.
Re-assembling the transmission of Z gauge locos with side roads is a bit tricky, as you need to keep the axles properly synchronized/ quartered.
Patience will be your best ally.
