Over the years I have used many forms of uncoupler on K and C track. In my early M days I was limited on space and my layouts were usually some kind of shunting frame. So, I have used the ”lolly stick”, cake spoon and 7224 railer. Moving the technology up to track uncoupler controlled by button boxes and then by K83s into a digital system. And then of course on the loks we have had at lest three different forms of telex coupler.

Although I have tried everything I never feel we have reached “the perfect solution”. A telex coupler is fine for shunting just one wagon or moving a whole rack of wagons/coaches into position. And the various model work better or worse with the different couplings that have evolved. Has anyone found the “ideal solution”?

I don't say I have found the perfect solution but here are three examples of the uncoupler track and Telex in operation under Rocrail control:
The marshalling yard

The new Telex (E117993) operation


All are working fine and with reliability (every time) but with the following restrictions:
* the new Telex does not work with old Relex couplers
* never leave the new telex active for more than 10 S and NEVER EVER lubricate it.
* both the Telex and uncoupler track don't work when there is traction on the coupler. So it is better to operate when pushing the train
* the uncoupler track is sometimes very noisy and with new decoders like the 60832, you need to program longer activation (it results in a staccato of commands like a submachine gun)

I don't have any experience with the K track uncoupler and my past experience with M track is that uncoupling may be affected by the shape of couplers (bent inward coupling pin).

In fact I found more challenging to couple cars in a reliable manner.
I had to do the following
* make sure all couplers were with the same height
* make sure all coupler pockets were returning to the center
* modify the Märklin short couplings so that the loop extremity is "sharpened" so as to avoid two coupling loops bumping on each other and being pushed upwards and then falling on the pre-decoupling tongues
Here is some automatic coupling (sometimes it failsCursing )
