Thanks, that makes sense. They are the same price at my usual dealers.

The wires in the 72021 might be more versatile than the rigid metal clips in the 72020 and I may give them a try. I don't see any indication that the grounding wipers come with either of them but the descriptions are not very clear, as usual on these kind of parts from Märklin.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

The 72021 set comes with a ground spring, and I believe it is primarily intended for the Marklin LED boards 73400 and 73401, but it depends a bit on the wagon itself. EG It's suitable if you fitt a led board in the Schürzenwagen's like 43222, but in those wagons, you will not the U shape metal plate for the coupler pickup. (the wagons has that already).

I have used primarily the 72020 with the 73400/401 lights in the past. That is why I wondered if the 72021 might be a better fit. I am preparing to light the coaches in my new 43617 rake of UP coaches.

I have also wondered about using the ESU lighting stips as an alternative but I don't know much about them yet.

Thanks for the input.

Jim

Does anyone have the actual part number for the new CC couplers? Note that these new slim couplers avoid fouling on the buffers, which is why new wagons (such as 42529 set) can have the correct NEM height buffers.

The part E115737 just comes back as a 50 pack of the old 72020 couplers, so is not correct:

edit: nevermind I found it on stummi, item 72025 (x10) or E365409 (x2).

The non conducting version is E357874 or 72010 (both x10 pieces)
modelling era IIIa (1951-1955) Germany

Or 72000 for a pack of 50 pieces (not conducting).
