The Ae 6/6 was a heavy electric loco intended for use on the Gotthard Pass route so I would think any Swiss passenger and freight cars from the mid 1950's on would be fine.

There are also 43651 era VI 4 car set.

Mmmmh... - not truly typical. Wink The use of Ae 6/6 with commuter train double deckers was only a short interlude around 1992 when more useful motive power was not available. And only those cars with yellow entrance doors would be suitable (didn't Märklin announce sets with red doors?).

Otherwise one can indeed take just about any Swiss passenger or freight car since the mid-1950's.

Foumaro,

The Lightsteel coaches are suitable for the 37437. Another option would be a combination of FS (Trix 23414) and DB UIC-X coaches, which would be typical for an international express on the Gotthard line. You could even add the 43874 SBB WRm Restaurant coach to that consist.

As far as the 37361, that model is in the later red livery. By that time, the Ae 6/6 was no longer the dominant locomotive on the Gotthard line and most international expresses were pulled by newer Re 6/6 or even by the newly arrived Re 460. The Ae 6/6 were not capable of automated operation with other classes (Re 4/4II/III, Re 6/6) and required a driver onboard, so they were more often assigned to less heavy freight trains throughout the network.

Prior to the division of the fleet into Freight and Passenger divisions in 1999, Ae 6/6 could also be found in passenger traffic (by availability), so an Ae 6/6 could be found in almost any use, other than in push-pull operation as the Ae 6/6 was not capable of operation with any pilot coaches in the SBB fleet.

Here are some photos you can use for inspiration:

http://www.railfaneurope...toric/Ae6_6/red/pix.html

One of my favorite typical Swiss trains (freight) was the 46331 Weiacher Kies train, which I remember as a kid being pulled by a Crocodile and later by Ae 6/6.
Another interesting Swiss theme might be a PTT Postal Train.

Regards

Mike

I would say that also the Re420 LION + S-bahn bilevel coaches + bilevel pilot coach consist has never existed outside Märklin catalog.
Not to mention that the S-bahn pilot coach is a DB coach in SBB colours.

I made up that kind of consist with 23414 (3 FS coaches), 43874 (SBB WRm), a DB Aüm203 and a pair of Büm234 from a Start Set (29043) and finished it off with Fleischmann 5607 (DSG Sleeper).

It looks amazing behind any of my Maerklin Ae 6/6s. The FS coaches don't yet have the UIC numbers, but a mix was possible around 1965 as railroads were applying the new numbers as the coaches were in maintenance (revision).

If you need other consist ideas, check out my Interesting Consists Thread: https://www.marklin-user...ing-Consists-in-HO-Scale

Panayotis,

I think that this would be relatively suitable. I am not sure if DSG handled any restaurant services in Switzerland other than selected TEE trains.
There may also have been the train via Basel to Spain (D-Zug Hispania), but I would have to research that.

This would seem to support the possibility: https://bahnbilder-von-m...asel//picture_02407.html

A red WRümh132 was also used on occasion instead of a TEE livery restaurant on the Roland and probably even the Rheingold.
I know that I have seen red DSG sleepers, but I don't know how common it would have been to have a DSG/DB Restaurant on a regular D-Zug rather than a SSG/SBB one. One advantage might be that the SBB had a limited number of restaurant cars that could be used in Italy and Holland (to name a few).

Regards

Yes, 43574 / 43575 have red doors. There has previously been the 28505 set, which had a red Ae 6/6 with 3 blue doppelstock coaches with yellow doors.
