Hello,

This question is for our Dutch members or fans of the NS.
Roco has released this year, as a new item, a rerun of their model of a type B, Mat'24 "Blokkendoos" in blue livery (item # 74419)
The new item catalog says that it can be combined with "Plan D" coaches.
Could this arrangement really be seen in NL in a prototypical consist?

I’m not sure myself. But there is a Benelux society in the U.K. that might help you. Or better still, order it from a Dutch model shop. There usually quite helpful. Also I’ve found Instagram as been really helpful. There’s lots helpful Dutch Rail fans on there who are always helpful 👍
Also there’s a great deal of archive film on this YouTube channel on NS railways and more
you might see the combination on one of there videos!

Thank you for this most helpful information, with the prototypical NS consists.
What I seem to be missing for my prototypical "Plan D" consist is not the "Blokkendoos", but the postal car. Unfortunately, not in the Roco catalog yet.

I think that the postal car (Stalen D) is available from Artitec. That coach was also part of the Holland-Italien Express, which could be seen on the Gotthard in the 1960s.

The photos I saw on railfaneurope.net seems to show a variety of coaches in use with Blokendoos.

Maybe I don´t understand the question right, because the 74419 seems to BE a "Plan D" coach, so it would seem only logical that it should be combined with more Plan-D coaches...?!

Hi,

Originally these cars (Roco 74419) were part of the "Mat 24 Blokkendoos" trains, a combination of pulled cars and motorised units ordered in the 1920's.
Starting in the 1950's the motorised units were converted to non-motorised cars and together with the original non-motorised cars repainted in Berlin blue. The B indicates 2nd class.
They were in use until the early 1970's. So they could end up in consists together with Plan D cars, which existed from 1950 onwards.
