Hi guys!
So glad there is a community for us Marklin users.
Thanks for being here :)
I have just wired up my old marklin set from my childhood, but I'm having some difficulties with the lighting.
I believe I have wired everything correctly, but still having some problems.
Train runs fine.
I have one light bulbs inside a building, and one street light.
They are connected to yellow and brown output on transformer.
They light up fine as long as there is a train on the tracks.
When the train is removed the lights go out.
First of all. Is this normal?
Secondly I see that whenever I apply speed to the train the lights dim noticably even and become weaker and weaker as I apply more speed to the train.
When I have around half speed on the train the lights are almost dark.
Is this also normal?
Is there a way I can connect these 2 lights so they light up constantly (with/without train on tracks) and without any dimming problems?

Wondering if the track delivering power is not ok. Both wires going from this track to the transformer are yellow. I would think one should be red and the other should be brown? Maybe this soldering was home made and not correct. Does someone have a old C track showing the coorect way of soldering underneath?

That is probably a home made connection, but should be fine (even though the wires are the same colour). BUT do make sure the plugs on the other end are the correct colours for putting into the transformer. The bottom wire should have a red plug and the top wire a brown plug. I suspect you have these connected the wrong way around at the transformer and that is why the lights in your points vary in brightness depending on train speed. [edit] And by the way, this style of track is M track (M for metal), not old C track! [/edit]

Thanks, tried swithing wires and connectors - but unfortunately with same result.
I will try to replace cables in case there is something wrong with them, but i suspect there is something wrong in the transformer.
Any other suggestions?

Ok, So I tried replacing cables. Same result. So I get a feeling that I need a new transformer in order to get stable lights which do not weaken when running the train. Any other suggestions before I order a new one?

show a picture that shows the wires going into the transformer.
red and brown to track
yellow and brown to light

certainly if the order is 0 B L it is wrong

certainly if the ground (0) and the Bahn (B) wires are switched it would explain why the light gets dimmer when the speed is higher.
I have managed to finally discern the small letters and I think that is the B socket in the middle.
Switch the red and browns sockets and it should work.
