Thanks for the link. Interesting page for making small layouts.

But this ferry, do they really sail across the gulf without closing off the stern of the rail decks? Scared Scared Scared Scared

Don't they know what happened to the Wahine during a storm? Scared Scared Scared

I did a google search on "ferry goods train" and this one looked the part.
According to this: Williamstown-Tasmania it's going to your neck of the woods. I'm assuming Devonport.

Hi Lambs,

Thanks for the info about the unusual ship, pictured in an article from The Southern Thunderer.
The article from The Southern Thunderer is a report of a proposed rail ferry link Melbourne – Devonport. It is not established.
It would seem The Southern Thunderer is a New South Wales on-line newspaper.

Indeed I wonder if the news provider “stole the thunder” in using the picture, in that the ship pictured in the article (“Bali Sea” ) was described in an American article about new ships to take over an existing rail ferry service from Mobile (AL),USA to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico.
See here :
https://www.railuk.com/r...r-usa-mexico-rail-ferry/
I suspect the image in this article is taken whilst the ship is in the Mobile berth.
I think this is the rail ferry berth at State Docks in Mobile as seen from the "air" :

Here is more about the rail ferry:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CG_Railway

The images in the articles display the same ship and we see the The Southern Thunderer image shows the MV Bali Sea loading up with Ferrosur trains in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico.

Actually the original image they used can also be found here :
https://www.marinetraffi...:8106068/vessel:BALI_SEA

Thanks for bringing up an interesting subject,

Regards,

PJ

Well, I attributed my source. I do check the image info first.

On closer inspection of the description":
Roll-on Roll-off Rail Ferry will reduce costs of goods sold in Tasmania and convey HSR, Regional, Suburban, Freight Trains and Tram Cars across Bass
Strait. Regional, Suburban and trams. I won't hold my breath there.

Can anybody post a photo of the longest "lokzug" (locomotive only) consist that they have ever run on their layout?

The reason that there are no prototype photos of the Clariant Re 482 is that the locomotive is only used in tunnels and at night.
