Hi, My old CE800 is looking really bad with paint peeling off so I will repaint it. But I can't find right green color. Does anybody know what it is? Painting will be done with airbrush. Cheers Åke

I would plan on stripping all the old paint off to get a professional looking factory like finish.
Before you start, clean and area of the paint still remaining to get an accurate shade of the original paint. Match as closely as you can to currently available quality hobby paint such as Tamiya or Mr. Hobby Color. Being green is a plus because of the many military subjects that these paints are designed are green. (mainly armor tanks & airplanes)
Both of these companies make additives that you can custom mix to get the proper finish on the paint (satin). Take some good close up pics to use as reference showing the paint finish because it will be near impossible to remember exactly after you've stripped all the paint off. I also recommend that you use a little "retarder" when you airbrush the paint to slow down the drying and give the paint to level out for a even finish. Also, since the original plastic is black, I would apply a black primer so that in the future if the paint would get chipped for an accident etc., it will still show black underneath.
Good luck! Chuck

Hi Åke Having 3 of these locos I can confirm the plastic used for the body requires some "attention" (primer?) because the paint peels-off very easily (and I suspect it will again). I like all these color versions of the CE800 - bottle green - brown - red - some other shades to discover. I have a preference for the original pantograph with 2 spaced pick-up bows. What about you? Cheers Jean

Hi Jean, Certainly the body surface must be treated with some light abrasive pad and primer before spraying base paint. I must first check that the primer and base paint are suitable together before painting. I like the 2 spaced pick-up bow too Cheers Åke
