Hi All

I have a Marklin 24620 - Manual Double Slip which is not switching properly.
It is a manual switch, and if you flip the level slowly, it gets stuck. Its almost like you need to switch it with 'momentum' - and even then, it doesnt always switch.
I tried looking underneath if there might be something that is bent of something of the sort... but the mechanism is covered by a pastic sheet that seems to be 'plastic welded' in. I am scared to break it. Any advise on what to do? what to check? or how to get that cover off?

Hi BD, sounds like the switch has picked up some dust and/or dirt.

I have used CRC electronic cleaner with some success to unstuck such cases; others may recommend better materials.

The plastic cover can be opened to clean the parts properly, but it is the last resort - it is tricky to reassemble the thing. (I've done it, and I don't want to try again.)

Thnx for your reply... how do I get the cover off though? just simply by kinda wedging it open?

The cover is fixed with snap joints, so it can be removed with a bit of gentle bending. If you do it, better take a photo right away to help you reassemble the parts. Like said, not recommended unless it is the last option remaining!
