I'm working on digitizing my 3366 E52. I was using the 60901 kit, but I have a problem. Despite the fact that the permanent magnet is a perfect fit when attaching it to the wheel unit, it's too wide to fit when placing the wheel unit back into the housing. I need a thinner permanent magnet unit so it fits in the shell.
Any suggestions for a proper permanent magnet or has anyone successfully digitized the 3366?

Have a look at this & decide which one is closest to what you want: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ausw...:mDA6JGIyMWAkEkoqNlFBHRA

You will need to use your old brush plate, armature & screws. I think #51961 is what you are looking for.
On the Dutch forum "3railforum" mention is also made of having to grind the permanent magnet down to fit.

I think those are intended for use with the existing 3 pole armature, but may be the only option if grinding down the magnet from the 60901 kit isn't an option.

One other hint - try rotating the 60901 magnet 180 degrees and see if it fits better.

You will notice that the permanent magnet has several layers of sheeting.

In the situation where a magnet is too wide to fit when replacing the cover back on, I have resorted to stripping off 1 or 2 layers of the permanent magnet.

You must be careful to lift a sheet off gently, in case you find that you need to replace it back again.

Well known problem

The solution is here

https://www.marklin-users.net/intruder/

There go to "DIGITAL CONVERSIONS"

Then select

Märklin 3366 DB 152 034-5

All you need is there

Yes you are correct. I figured that this is what I'd be doing. I was going to mill the chassis, but this is a better solution.
