Folks - hopefully someone out there may have a solution for this... I recently inherited several vintage Marklin locomotives, this has a lot of sentimental value for me and I am determined to make all of them work... but unfortunately the mid-80's 3102 does not go forward. I've taken the whole thing apart and have replaced motor, rotor, rotor brushes, grinder and reverse unit. The only thing I have not replaced is the door to the rotor. Even with all the new parts it continues not to move forward. In reverse however, it moves perfect. When the reverse unit engages the forward mechanism, the motor makes a loud buzzing sound and nothing happens... lights are on but it does not go forward. If anyone out there has the answer... much appreciated. Thank you-

Its strange, but probably somthing that is posible to fix.
Have the 3502 myself, and its a very nice model, one of my favorits.
Here is just some ideas,
Have you cheked that drive rods and wheels are aligned, if you take out the rotor, does everything move freely in both directions?
When the rotor is in place can you turn the whhels by hand by ege moving one og the Tooth Wheels?

Hi,

I'm very sure you have an electric problem. One of the soldered connections from the field-coil is broken: The field coil has three wires: One is connected to one brush with a short cable. The other two are connected to the reversing switch. Check these two connections. Either one oft wires is broken or the connection to the reversing switch is loose. It is also possible that the fault is in the reversing switch itself. But that is not happening frequently.

Thanks folks - I figured out what it was... combination of misaligned gears and the brushings with a slight bad contact.

It's restored after 40 years of being in a box!

Thanks for the locomotive diagram... I've been looking for that for a while.
