Need to replace light on 2 Marklin 74141 lamp posts. Posts are used in storage yards/maintenance facilities. Think its an LED bulb that is burnt out (all black) and is hardwired with series resistor. 2 Wires run down lattice pole to connect to yellow/brown connections on Marklin transformer. Bulb is nor removable (e.g.no screw threads). Have several other lamp poles on layout with LED that work fine. Hate to buy new lamp post would rather fix existing. Any ideas? Jim

Hi Jim I have the Brawa tower power light with tiny bulbs that kept burning so I took from my stock of power LEDs ribbons I use to light coaches and enameled wire (from dead switch motors). The difficult part is to solder the wire with the LED (but feasible with an electronic soldering iron). Next is to paint the wire the same color as the pylon. Then attach the wire so that it remains discreet, insert a resistor so to have a 10 to 20 mA. This is 1.5 kOhms to 2.2 kOhms with 12 to 14 VDC Here is the result (top center of picture): Note: with those latest LEDs you may have to reduce the current and they are extra flat (.5mm or so) Cheers Jean |
