I am very proud to announce the release of RemoteSign Sequencer.

RemoteSign Sequencer can be used to drive multiple RemoteSigns, including the little platform sized ones and full colour Windows versions.

The software runs on Windows, and is installed along with the Windows RemoteSign program.

I have included a small tour guide in the program that shows one around as well as sample files that show how to compose screens and there are also sample files that show how a single button connected to the small RemoteSign ESP devices can be used to cycle through as many screens as desired!
Essentially you could install a small platform sign on your layout and have either a physical switch, or a k84 type module, trigger the next screen! This opens up the possibility for any digital control system to be able to control RemoteSigns!

There is a new overview page of how all the RemoteSign items interact with each other too.

I am keen to hear feedback, especially if there are any areas that are confusing, not clear, or not working.

Wow, excellent work. ThumpUp

Feedback:
you state the pixles of the different signs. Can you also state the measurments in Millimeter - mm - and Inch (or the equivalent scale unit)?

(here a software for calculating in to mm)
https://www.convertworld.com/en

Also which sign would you typically use for which purpose?
OK, the one with the Kids Burger is for McDonald's Love. But which one to use for platforms, stations, coaches, cars, etc.?

Are other announcements possible, like to program "open" in different colours on the display?

Are you producing these signs by yourself?

thanks for the feedback, yes, I'll add some sizes to the pages - good idea... In the meantime you can get some idea of the sizes here:
https://cabin-layout.mixmox.com/2019/05/working-platform-signs.html

The sample files that come with RemoteSign are really just samples, the idea is that people will edit the data to suit their own use and layout, by changing station and train names as needed, but I will add a page that helps people find the right sample files. Thanks!

Yes, the colour of foreground and background text can be defined for header lines and text areas that are not animated split flap displays. What is actually displayed is of course limited by the hardware of the display. Windows RemoteSign can display all the colours, and the small RemoteSign ESP displays are typically monochrome, so one gets whatever color is possible. White on black displays and blue+yellow displays are best suited for station signs.

Yes, I made the original RemoteSign back in 2007 and in the last year I also implemented it on the tiny processors and screens. I made the RemoteSign Sequencer so that such signs can be easily driven independently of layout control software.

I added ideal usage for each main type at:

Did I get it right?

Sound is not so much of interest in the signs, since it is possible to store an own developed sound file onto a mfx decoder. Such mfx decoders appears more and more in coaches as well. My new IC2 DoSto 43483 has one on board. On top of the cab drivers room is a very tiny remote sign. It can be switched on and off by the mfx decoder inside, but you cannot alter the destination. With your remote signs it should be possible.

I have not done it yet, but you may set up in a CS 3 the typical messages of a station by yourself, for an ICE arriving and/or leaving a station. Even if you had not build a decoder inside the station building. Not only light but also sound may be operated with the car decoder in conncetion with a remote signs.

But my major idea was and is to build a remote sign into an ICE at the window. It should be possible showing in the windows of each ICE car its routing. So it is in reality done. As I understand your remote signs, they have a very high flexibility. So it may be possible to program a remote sign for every car of an ICE train for its routing.

for layout sound effects, I play them through PC speakers placed below the layout, and since I have two PCs also running RemoteSign, I can also play sound effects through their speakers to get sounds coming from different areas of the layout.

Placing small RemoteSigns inside an ICE would be cool! And yes, each screen could have its own couch number and destination board, but, I suspect the little processors are a bit bulky though to fit inside the ICE , they are 57mm long by 31mm wide and at least 10mm thick.
See 3rd image at https://cabin-layout.mixmox.com/2019/05/working-platform-signs.html
One might be able to place them in a car without windows, but would need to run wires to the screens.....

One would also need to ensure that the power supply to the processor has a good size capacitor to ensure they don't go off when the train loses power for a moment.

I try to look it up at my new DoSto IC 2 cars, but I did not want open them to break anything off. From outside may be space for the remote sign. But you are right, not very much room for the processor, whereas the train has already a processor on board, e.g. to switch on/off the interior lights in all cars at once. It has the Maerklin conduct couplers as well, but I did not find a capacitor buffer. Although it should be there already, avoiding the interior light flickering. I guess it is not as easy as I thought to get a remote sign behind a cars window. A real pity.

I just added a new feature to the RemoteSign Sequencer...

It now has 9 general purpose counters! These can be set, incremented, or decremented as needed and then also sent to any RemoteSign using a new Counter macro!

CounterCommand.png

I plan on making up a sample file to show how they can be used to simulate train axle counters that were used to compare the number of axles coming into a block of track, to the count of axles going out...

I had to do it.......

Today I implemented conditional branching in RemoteSign Sequencer!

What that means is, scripts can include If statements that can branch to other scripts based on the values of counters!

Using this feature one can, for example, make an axle counter display automatically reset itself if the two counters match each other!

The sample file that displays two counters on a single display has been updated to take advantage of this new feature...
