Dear TEEWOLF, many thanks for your help. I can read German but actualy understandig the examples you sent are another matter. After some consideration, I'm going to stay with the m83 decoder(s) and hopefully get my Windigipet software to rcognise the address. Vielen Dank!!

Hi Originally Posted by: dconner@freenet.de What am I doing wrong? I cannot get my decoupler track to work with a m84. old deoder m83 is okay. Any ideas??? The recommended way to connect a decoupler is to use a m83 (6083, 60831, 60832,..). 1 check the decoupler with a power source (attention there is a component in series with the coil to protect it that may fail and cause the decoupler not to work) 2 connect the entcoupler to a M83: blue wire to a Red or Green plug / screw terminal, the yellow wire to the yellow plug or to the screw terminal marked 1, 2 3 or 4. 3 activate the M83 decoder (on 60831 / 60832) the LED diode in front of your entcouplers blue cable must be briefly lit. Duration: with old 6083, the solenoid will be activated as long as you push the corresponding "button". With new 60831 / 60832 the duration is set but a CV that you must program. Note: use of M84 is not recommended because it may burn you solenoid if you forget to turn it off (OK there is this thermal protection but I would'n rely on it too much) Hope this helps Here is a CS2 / PC (Rocrail) controlled decoupler using a 60832 decoder Jean |

Why are you using an m84 on the decoupler track? The decoupler track is to be sent a short power burst (m83), not permanent on (m84). Or did I mis read something. |

You misread / misunderstood. Please research the Relex concept. the m83 MAY be used if you bold the button down while the train(coupling) moves over the uncoupler. Or if it is set up to turn on and off to provide distinct control. i.e. not just a short pulse using a m84/m84 has other advatages, like not drawing power unnecessarily from your controller |

The M84 can deliver just a short pulse sufficient to uncouple all of the Marklin couplings even the really difficult older conducting ones. Works great on my layout plus has the advantage of being able to use the uncoupler track on the screen layout so that clicking on it operates the uncoupler.
