Every so often the lok stops with a traction tyre wrapped around the valve gear!

Sometimes both of them come off and the only way to sort it is to take the body off and tease them back into place. Is there anything I can do to stop them coming off in the first place?

Stop doing burnouts on the layout.. LOL

Are you sure that you have the correct tyres on the loco? I used to have lots of V60s and I can't recall shredding any tyres.. Put some new ones on anyway - once they come off they will not stay on properly..

Lok is only 3 months old so original tyres. Just got an order on its way from Lippe so I guess new ones will have to wait :-(

Well that's done then. I am an active EBay user but never thought to look!

Thank you

Maybe its an older model, and has spent years on the shelve in the shop, causing the tyres to go brittle¿?

Have you oiled it recently or squirted anything with WD40? It all runs down to the wheels eventually and gets between the metal and the rubber and the tyres peel off on rotation. Pulling a loco along the track unpowered as a dead weight will also stretch the tyres. Just a thought. IanC

Hmmm. No oiling but I have been known to rub the loco back and forth a couple of times over a dirty piece of track. That's a habit I will stop now!

Pushing any rubber tired Loco against the friction of the track will be all it takes.

Just think about what the thin soft tyres will do when faced with that?

I suspect your problem may mysteriously vanish.

Hello,
I had the same problem a few years ago and it went away when I fixed a K track joint that was not properly connected - it was not smooth when I ran a finger over the rail join.
Not sure if this was the cause but it has not happened again.
Maurice.

I only use it in the yard so that isn't an issue. Thanks for the idea.
