Hello Mehmet, It is so pleasing to see you recovering. How appropriate for you that your orthopaedic surgeon is obviously a Märklin Metal fan ! When viewing the lateral image of your plated right fibula, one can see the piece of Märklin Metal he used ! : And I suspect that the surgeon selected the plate from the indicated section of his surgical parts kit shown below : Congratulations on your progress - looking good Regards, Philip

You were apparently in very good (surgeon's) hands! As a mountain biker, I've seen a few of my friends with that type of complicated damage and sometimes it's been long for them to recover. It's not just a matter of re-attaching the bones but also the muscles and tendons around them. And then it becomes a (slow) matter of recovering on the proper irrigation of all the surrounding tissues. That's where "mother patience" will help you during the rehab process. The key and most effective medication in all this is keeping a good spirit...and we're happy to see you have plenty of that! Keep the spirit! Jacques |

Hi Mehmet,
That was fun. Maybe you can glue a small magnet to the top of the metal load.

Thes e videos moved me to tears Mehmet! I was re-living my own "Home return" after my weeks in the hospital in 2001! I know it's a great moment and the most importnat milestone in the recovery process. I'm so glad you're now home . My only regret: I'll never have the chance to load my trains with the (titanium) "spare parts" mounted around my spine. But that's just a detail! Welcome home! |
