Mine arrived today ,plenty of reading in the new items book but a little light on in the insiders & magazine books . Oh well I can see I will probably be moving more furniture around tomorrow instead of having a good read .
Cheers Tom in Oz .

Mine received today. I insist: It takes longer to arrive to my home in Spain (just about 1.200,- Km from Goppingen) than going down under... even later than the Aussies
Luckily we can read before thru the web, but I prefer finding the magazines in my mail box!

How is that done? Australia is further from Germany than the USA and Canada. Australia seems to have already received

You have to have a good postal service in your country, but that only accounts for half the journey. Maybe Märklin gets the packs for NZ out the door before everyone else. To be honest, I don't know as I have no real knowledge of the logistics that are employed in getting them here.

To be honest, I don't know as I have no real knowledge of the logistics that are employed in getting them here. From talking to the Märklin USA person its done as follows: Not so many tourists travel from Germany to New Zealand, vs Germany to North America. The magazines are bulk shipped from Germany to the US, where they then mail them out from one central spot in the US using the US mail. I expect the same thing may happen in most countries (easy to check - does the NZ delivered mail have German postage stamps on it?). In any case the mail travels on airplanes in the cargo hold - for the big bulk shipments, when there is a lot of tourist/human travel, the amount of space on the planes for the 'cheap service' of a pallet of magazines and catalogs, means they sit at the airport for a lot longer before being transported when space is available to North America, than they do to New Zealand. Its that airplane flight cargo availability to the particular destinations that is the key. At least so says Märklin USA. If they mailed them direct from Germany to each customer, the same would still apply as mail also takes the same airplanes, but the price would go up as I expect the cost to mail each package individually from Germany, vs a bulk pallet from Germany to Destination Country where the local packages are mailed would be higher. That or they need the in-country customization to get the right language and additional inserts to the countries around the world. E.g. I'm in the US but get my magazine, catalogs and DVDs all in German Language, but still get the English USA letters and offers. |

USA Members take note. I just received this email from Marklin USA. Peter. Dear Club Member: We have just learned the factory has been experiencing technical difficulties after implementing new software in their warehouse. These difficulties are causing shipping delays, and that includes our shipment of magazines and brochures for our #1/2018 Club mailings. Please know they are working diligently to get this resolved and we will keep you informed about the delivery status of your #1/2018 mailing when we know more. Märklin and Trix Club members will be receiving the order form for their annual club car and other Insider model offerings in their #1/2018 mailing. If it appears the delay is longer than anticipated, we will send the order form under separate cover. The 2018 New Items brochures are also scheduled to be included in the mailing. For the time being, there are digital files of the brochures you can download at these links: Märklin: http://streaming.maerkli..._mae_nh2018_Internet.pdf Trix: http://streaming.maerkli...trix_nh2018_Internet.pdf LGB: http://streaming.maerkli..._lgb_nh2018_Internet.pdf We are sorry for this news and appreciate your understanding. Best regards, Märklin, Inc.

Yeah, I just got that email too - so THIS time the problem is a Marklin warehouse software bungle. Though I'm not sure why that has a huge impact - go HAND PICK the quantities. But ok, so it will be March before we see the 1/2018 mailings.... if not April. Ugh. |

Ranjit,
same thing I received. The 01 Märklin Magazine looked like it had been seriously bend over its travels and handling, as the spine of the magazine was pretty creased/cracked up. |

Sigh! 2:nil.... Perhaps it has to do with the new non-stop flight from Europe to Australia? It has to end in Perth, the way to Sydney is still too long for any regular civilian airplane . Probably then the cargo is forwarded to Sydney by train. Just yesterday I read in a German paper about a very nice and luxurious train from Perth to Sydney. It is running 4.352 Kilometer in 4 days and 3 nights from Perth to Sydney - once a week. The train is named the "Indian Pacific". Crosses the Nullarbor desert on a 476 Kilometer long straight train line! Worldrecord! What does it do, if a parcel arrives 3 days late? Australia is pretty far away from the "old world", it also must be a hugh country.

Thank you, Thomas, for letting me know. My packages always come to me chewed up! The Indian customs and the Indian Post, not to mention the courier companies are plain bad news!

We have been away for 3 days so when I opened the mail box when we arrived home today Lo & Behold what is sitting on top of all the other useless garbage that gets delivered is Issue 2 of 2018 . Looks to be a nice lot of reading material for the next day or so to be handled .
Cheers Tom in Oz .

It does not matter if the parcel arrives three days late as long as the parcel for the East Islanders is five days late.. |

Props to my friend Wolfgang for turning this up so quickly. The Insider Magazine article provides more details on both the prototype and the model, which I found very interesting. It also answers a question that I had (inappropriately) asked in the poll thread, when I should have asked it here. In the Märklin images why was the front of the engine toward the coaches and not the coal bunker end? Well that is the end with the connections for the push-pull operation and they are not only nicely modeled on the Insider BR 65 they would have always run that loco with the front toward the coaches. Very cool! I am impressed with this train although I still don't know how much these will cost if I purchase them through one of my normal North American dealers. It looks like it might be another in a run of the high quality models we have been asking for, even if it is far from cheap. I will post to the Poll thread whenever I finally decide, which luckily I can wait a while to do as an Insider. |
Regards,
Jim
I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!

Today (2018-06-05) I got my Insider package 03/2018 including all the nice bits (no bytes ) @steventrain mentioned in his post #338 already. But in the MM 03/2018 page 8 they mentioned the new outfit of the CS 3 . But at page 10 MM reports about a new CS 3 software update to version 1.3.3. Here the message at Märklin's homepage: https://www.maerklin.de/...e/downloads/cs3-updates/ "... Inform yourself regularly" Very nice. This update shall now allows you to handle and use the CS 3 via an internetbrowser! Then with this update coming new functions in the section "Ereignis" (is this "incident" or which English word you will use for it?). MM will report more detailed about this new functions in their next issues. Again, the Insider Club News 03/2018 (NOT the Märklin Magazine - this is not published as a PDF file in English) you find here: https://www.maerklin.de/..._GESAMT_051418_EN_db.pdfDo not miss the nice poster “All Insider H0 Club models”. Poster "All Insider H0 Club models" from the passed 25 years

Oh, i also meant to say that the copy of the Marklin Magazine is the thinnest I have ever seen it - no thicker than the club news instead of the usual 1/8" (3mm) thick.

My Marklin Magazin 03 June/July 2018 arrived today, the German version. On page 8 it says that steamer 44 1315 ("Jumbo") will be moved from Heilbronn to Goppingen shortly to complete the new Marklin museum. A proper base and informative plaque will be produced within the Marklin factory. https://www.dampflokomot...2737_65&action=imageMeanwhile i picked up from German internet that Marklin will lease the locomotive and will pay for transport and maintenance. Story goes that Marklin will present the locomotive in a typical Marklin "carton" to show the link with the 1/87 scale models, that would be nice! Edited by user 10 June 2018 13:50:22(UTC)

My English Marklin Insider package arrived today (Wednesday) in the UK, so they seem to be getting them in the post pretty promptly this time. Sometimes it seems to take forever after the announcement on this list that a new one has been issued before my copy arrives.

Saw it in the mailbox, even as I opened the front door.
I cleared the mailbox this morning (there was a rather wet community newspaper there), but no Insider package. It must have arrived later.
