I try to balance my collection, buying some golden oldies every year to which I add a couple of the new items from the current year, as long as they are affordable. In the past I've managed to stretch to a loco in the 400 euro range once a year, but that may have to stop unless it's the only purchase in the year! I've bought 8 or 9 locos this year, which is less than average, but I plan to cut it down to 4 or 5 next year. |

It is really, really nice and worth the price. Agree with you totally. Whereas unusable for a 360 mm radius, it could be a challenge to the digital functions. Because why not a sensor and program for the loco stopping in front of a 360 mm curve? Just as an idea.  But 600 € is too much, even I have to confess, indeed it is a very beautiful loco. I bought the S 2/6 (37017) - which is also "not ugly"  - for a price of 450 €. This was already expensive for just a loco. 150 € more is 33,33 % on top of the S 2/6 price!  Who is thinking, that the new French class 241-A loco is 33,33% nicer than the old Bavarian S 2/6?

Nice loco, I'm going to get one.
A lot of loco doesn't run on R1, but it's ok, I mean, this is same thing as Big Boy or others, is a special stuff, I'll wait to see it with my eyes but I think I will go for it.
As of today I'm more pissed off by the Breda TEE from Roco which doesn't even run on R3 :) |

Also although I am planning on easing the curves on my layout, radius 2 on K track is still 1cm to small?
So it will be 2241 curves. |

Saw the model in the brochure. Didn't order any loco from the fall collection, the BR 18.5 was tempting, Decided to wait for the surprise fall item. I think it's a beauty and ordered it today. Most of my curves are R3 or R4 on the main line. Some (half) R2 followed by a wider radius. So I expect no problems, We wil see. Edited by user 27 September 2017 17:28:48(UTC)

Sorry Marklin,this will probably be my next purchase,the Hobby Master 1/48 Brewster Buffalo with Dutch East Indies markings: http://www.flyingmule.co...prd/HM-HA7004_01_lrg.jpgThe pilot of this particular plane,Lt.Deibel,shot down at least 3 Japanese fighters before being killed himself. Such a great model ! But on my just finished layout : 1 x Märklin C-Track 24107 Curved R1=360mm 7.5° 3 x Märklin C-Track 24115 Curved R1=360mm 15° 13 x Märklin C-Track 24130 Curved R1=360mm 30° makes 17 unfortunate reasons to save money and to keep on collect oldies or small new ones... congratulations to all those who will possess it. The 42795/6 wood bodied/clad cars were modeled as running in 1928. CIWL were making steel cars from 1923, so a decade later when the 241 A was built, it is most likely that the CIWl trains were using the most modern equipment. And of course they were all blue by that time. Except for the 4029 sleeper car (as built in 1958) Marklin have never made any realistic later models for this time (1930+).  Rivarossi, LS and REE have made them, such as the Y series sleepers. I really like it, and I think that it is entirely appropriate for Marklin to produce top level, top price models. We do not all have to buy everything that they offer and it is nice to have choices. I can order if for €490, which is less than I paid for a new 37015 after it was no longer available from most dealers, so it seems almost reasonable to me. But then I am seldom rational when it comes to making my loco choices,and with any luck I never will be. I am an advocate for running whatever coaches I want with my locos, as long as there is any plausible explanation. This is an excursion loco today and it could be run with any number of coach sets in my opinion. Basically just pick whatever coaches you like within reason. After all, our model railroads are our worlds to control.  |

Delivery October 😱😱😱it's not going on my layout this year👎
If I can still get one, by the end of next year, I may do just that? But I'm amazed they are advertising and delivering over just two months? It would of made the perfect 50 birthday present for me😁😆this October. But ive ordered stuff already.
I will just have to wait for next year👎If it not sold out:-( |

I can only praise Maerklin for releasing this model, and I hope they sell lots. It does represent fantastic value, if you compare it with a Fulgurex, or Micro Metakit brass-built version of the same or similar thing. For myself, I can say that I am tempted every day to buy models of all gauges and sizes. Old clockwork, beautiful brass models in both HO and O etc etc. But the reality is that I have no room to run them, and even less space to store them. So I will desist from purchasing the 39241. Kimball, have to check my memory, wasn't there a post recently with a manufacturer "Ree models" with a french loco and they come in AC as well but its not the same loco.  : |

I tried waiting a bit on the 37015 S 2/6 and they disappeared very quickly and before I could buy one. I eventually decided that I really did need that model and I ended up paying a premium to get one of the few new ones still out there. So I think that anyone who really wants a 241 A 65 needs to get it promptly. I believed that I was done ordering for a while but I have to admit that looks like one very special loco. I also have multiple things pre-ordered and I am not sure what I will do, especially since I am still waiting on my Insider 103. If they all came in during one month if could be really expensive. I also have Kimball's problem of running out of room but unfortunately that has not stopped me from buying more trains yet. |

You would have to no what you were doing, to do that to one of these steamers😱 I have decided against getting this new Marklin 241a as it's got several draw backs now. It's minimum radius is to large even for radius 3 K track. It's out to soon, for me as I have to much on order and it's really out of my price range too. Even though it's worth the price. Märklins new steam loco 241 A are full metal and i´m pretty sure it has high pulling tractive effort. |

The new clock 241A sure is a beauty. The more I look at it the more I get the feeling this is not a Märklin product. Märklin has always made locomotives that run on their track geometry. When I see that this loco will not run on R2 "K" track curves it make me wonder. I have a "K" track layout and I do not have any 360 mm radius track sections. This loco cannot negotiate my points. I get the feeling this loco is made by the high quality asian supplier that made the 37015 S 2/6.
