I hope someone can give some suggestions on what to build. I have a table with a working area its 19.5 inches by 45.5 inches. I would like to run two trains at one time but I would like the look of more than 2 sets are running. Maybe a yard would be nice. Possible oval with figure 8 with it than scenery. Hope I can get some suggestions I have 2 Marklin sets to use. Maybe some layout pictures. Not new to trains but just getting started again. Thanks Ron

Hi Ron,
As a starting point, why don't you Google "Marklin Z track plans" and then view the images - there seem to be a lot of interesting, small plans. Secondly, along with most sets, Marklin issues a track geometry pamphlet that includes a number of track plans; try getting hold of that.

Thanks to all but still searching. Their kit are not giving too much help. Great stuff on the internet but how to tell what number Marklin tracks to use. Thanks Ron

Hi Ron,
I currently have a 2.4 x 1.2 metre layout which I need to downsize, so I'm right in the middle of track planning. On my Windoze PC I use a piece of software called Anyrail to design my layout. It supports Z scale, has all of the Markin Z track templates (as well as Rokuhan and others). Once you've designed your layout you can press a button to see a detailed inventory of all the required track. It also does flex track, grades and can warn of excessively tight curves or steep grades. If you use blocking to create sections to facilitate automatic multiple train operation on a single track then it colour codes these as well. It's helping me get my head around what I can fit into my new layout size. Hope this helps..

Very nice layout. I really wanted a layout that could run two trains different directions and a figure 8 in the middle. Without a million pieces of track to play with I'm having trouble building or thinking how to build something. Thanks Ron

I have been working on it, I was able to reduce the length of the baseboard to 22 x 48 inches.
