I guess this one needs to go in here ... These links were put on the German Railway Society list by one of the members. Only the Irish could produce something like this - points that double as turntables ... Dear Members, Please click on the link below to view a monorail in Ireland from 1931. I know it's not German, but I thought you might like it. The following link is for a film of the modern-day replica of the 1931 monorail.

Amazing this train has not made it here yet: Original: Canadian Version: Canadian Mutation: The original engines did not last in the Canadian winters and were replaced by the FP7Am. |

Now try doing it with a truck of the same weight on an asphalt surface which is smooth. But it would make an interesting vignette on a layout with a wagon that you can't otherwise justify running.

I don't know if this has been posted before. The Bulleid "Leader" class of Steam Locomotives was revolutionary in design but didn't quite take off. It had a cab for the driver at each end like a Diesel or Electric loco, but the poor fireman had to work in a very confined space in the middle which apparently got extremely hot! |

Hi all. The "Leader" was even weirder than it looks ! Three inside cylinders per bogie ( total 6 ) Sleeve valves operated by "Bullied" modified chain driven Walschaerts valve gear. Axles of bogies connected by chains instead of coupling rods. Firebox had no sides, only firebricks. Boiler was offset causing imbalance and requiring side passageways to be ballasted with scrap causing overweight. And probably some other strange features ! And the TALGO train ... well if you think that one is weird look at the original. http://streamlinermemories.info/?p=2238At least it looks happy ! Regards. Colin.

From this great clip it is obvious that on your 1/87 layout you can run a DB steamer pulling both DB and Swiss coaches, accompanied by a Swiss electric loco or even a French steamer. In other words, everything is possible! |

That is actually a "real" Danish locomotive. It's built by A/S Frichs and there were two of them built, no 1201 and 1202. The Danish railway company DSB ordered 1952 four locomotives from NOHAB. After some political decisions DSB ordered 1954 two locos of the same kind from A/S Frichs. However there were a lot of problems with those two Frichs versions, and they were not really used. The version from NOHAB were a great success. DSB received the locomotives in Helsingoer in the morning/before lunch, taken to the depot and got filled with oil, sand and water, and transported to the Copenhagen depot for a last view, and taken into service in the evening.
