Hi all,
many thanks for your compliments.

@ Jeremy:
You mean this “snow-covered” crocodile, Märklin 39569.
UserPostedImage
UserPostedImage

There is quite a story behind this loco.
When I saw it in an article (magazine), I went to a Märklin dealer to buy this one.
But it was impossible to buy this loco, the loco could not be ordered for sale.
This loco – special and limited edition – could only be ordered by the dealer in combination with a special bunch of locos and a big glass show case , so I was told.
The dealer did not intend to order this bunch -value 4000 € for the dealer to pay.
I contacted Märklin and asked to buy this whole bunch, that was refused with the argument
“For re-seller only”.
Months later I found an offer of this loco in ebay – and I was the lucky bidder !!!
But surprise-surprise, the seller was the dealer I had asked months ago.

Hello Wolf,

Thanks for the additional photos of the "Snowy" Krok. I share one model with you!! How I got it was a little different though. I was chatting
one day to Mike Sorge, West End Trains in Toronto, and was moaning about not being able to find the 39569 and Mike burst out laughing and
told me he was looking at one right in front of him on his "personal" shelf and offered it to me on the spot. He also had the weathered brown
Krok 37569 so I just had to get that alsoSad Sad .

Sorry to hear your story but glad you got your model in the end.

Jeremy.

So now I know why I have so much trouble getting an elusive Croc - here we have one owner with 18, and another who "only has three" (ONLY!!) Sob. Drool

I have yet to find my first one, not even a baby Croc (3022) has come my way (well at least, not one I could afford). Even our club GFS has not had one through in a while.

Perhaps now that I am reunited with my trains, maybe I should find something rare from the cabinet to get out and console myself with. Tongue

Anyone got a spare Croc they are just sick of looking at - LHP pricing ?? ThumpUp

Croc fans,

My first one was purchased in about 1990, the green croc, an analog loco, and earlier this year I fitted a decoder.
Recently I purchased a brown one, with horn sound and soft sine drive.
The two crocs have become best friends.

A friend of mine who models radio controlled aircraft tells me :

Joe, you will have to look at what the Dip Switches are set to. It could be 56 , BUT check the settings.

I wish!!, but I think if they did, somehow they probably wouldn't be admitting it here BigGrin

And it's not the sort of thing we're likely to see on Ebay any time soon, but perhaps one day at one of the specialist auction houses.

Special Auction Services had one here in the UK in their Trains Galore auction a few years ago, with a Reserve price of £20,000. It didn't sell, so I made them an offer, but it wasn't accepted!

So I haven't got a millennium Croc!

Speaking of the Snow Croc, it doesn't seem to me that the Croc being sold in this auction is a genuine 39569 Snow Croc. What do you think?

Hi all you croco hunters,
today I show you a picture of a real croco rarity😎.
It is a transparent 3015 from 1959 and was produced to test the die casting form.
Those days it was common to check the casting process for interior bubbels using transparent material. I also have some other of these transparent 800- locos.

today I show you a picture of a real croco rarity😎.

It is a transparent 3015 from 1959 and was produced to test the die casting form.

Those days it was common to check the casting process for interior bubbels using transparent material. I also have some other of these transparent 800- locos.

Thanks for that, I'd be interested in photos of any other transparent items you have?

Thanks

Hi Rei , I just picked up a turntable like the one in your post.Since the control unit only has 3 outlets am I right in thinking the red wires go to outside conectors and both brown to center. By the way love all your crocs. Eddie BigGrin

Hi Eddie,

you're right and there is also one yellow pin at the turntable to connect to the transformer.

Here you can see it:
