He showed me his outstanding collection Märklin gauge 00 and he told me quite a lot of the pre-war production as well as of the post-war production matters. I am a great fan of the loco SK 800 and he told me, that 1939-1941 only few SK 800 were officially painted RED on special request of important customer. After the war cigarettes were of great value and Märklin workers "re-painted" locos in colour as requested in private. In addition Märklin had had at that time a repair service and painted locos as requested. This was "officially" done. When we look at the official production line as published in catalogs and dealer letters there are no red or blue and gray locos mentioned. Today it is very difficult to distinguish between old and new (=fake) red locos. Wolf Hi Wolf You are absolutly right. A blue version has never been presented in a VK Marklin Catalog. Nevertheless I bought this beauty from a well known Dutch collector (you probably know him) who told me that it is a true VK item and I have no reason not to believe him. But you might be right to stress that it could be an immediate pre-war re-painted lok. I also recall that this occurence was mentionned in the last Mikado Guide issued last year. I will check that. I do have a TWE700.1 which I love.As I now have a few locos with the paddle type sliders I will have to build a layout with solid rail. Jean-Pierre what size is that layout in the pictures. The size of the layout is 1,25m x 2,45m which seems to me the right size to be able to play a while with different parts. My layout is temporary. If I would build it more permanently, I would have set 3 independent tracks at least and may be four. Jean-Pierre

I only have a red and a grey one. I found the red one in California via ebay. I have the grey from an old german collector. I have a real blue Postwar SK. It was manufactured by marklin especially for Touropa together with about 4 blue waggons stamped Touropa instead of Deutsche Bahn. It was shown on a trade fair in 1955 in Munich. All the best Stefan
