He could send the CS1 s back to M for spares and they could send one to Nev.

after "reverse engineering", why not "reverse production"? biggrin

At least they could eschange the broken CS with a working one. So they have only to re-pack the CS, let's call "re-pack production"biggrin

I will check with my CS. The illumination of the screen is down on the left side of the screen[:(]. It is working, so until now I had no need to send it back before knowing when they can repare it.

Hello Lutz,

I do not know, since my CS is dated december 2005. No warranty anymore.
And I will not return it until I know for sure that I can have it back in a reasonable time. I do not want to wait months like some people here in the forum.
Maybe, if the really discontinue the CS, they can make me an advantageous exchange offer for a CS2.

Hi Stephan If you are out of warranty then as said you will get one from old dealers stock or a repair if there are any spares but after that dont expect a new CS2.
Maybe time to just keep it as a spare and buy a new controller but wait until the new one is on the market and ensure they are not being returned for faults. If you have a 6021 it will probably last forever.

Best then as you say to keep it until you are sure it can be returned quickly. If you have a mobile Station you can use that and if not they can be bought fairly cheaply.

Hi David They told me months ago they would not have any further CS in stock. (old version) I forget what they said about boosters other than they were no longer interested in giving any dates for delivery.
Interesting to see their price for the new CS.

I think DD was inferring that it would be interesting to see the price when it came out. omitted the will be words at the beginning.

Lutz, Some of us do have the CS here in the downunder, We also have our old 6021 for when the CS frustrates us.
The only debate now, is do we sell the old CS and take a gamble on the new one, or do we let someone else be the guinea pig?

I would like to know exactly what it can do, besides look pretty, before I part with my cash.

(flash can of course sell you one now)

Mike NZ I would keep your old CS even if you buy the new one. It can be attached to the CS2 and of course is useful as a back up.

Regarding the price I think you will find it will be considerably more than the old CS.

Mike, I won't be rushing. Take a wait and see approach I guess, especially since there does not seem to be any earth shattering new features.

It will also be interesting to see whether there will be any more software updates for the CS1.

I agree with Dave, wait and see if you still have another controller to play around with.
I would never buy a new system from the first moment it is released certainly the way development and quality checks are done today.

Dave I don't expect a newer firmware version will come for the CS but that will not make a difference for people with a broken CS right now.[:I]

Should there be a new version, I would expect more or less the same features as introduced in the latest firmware 1.1.3 for the ECoS. Is the CS bone architecture not ECoS based except for the protocols supported? wink

Happens here every day. Unsold goods are returned to the manufacturer and then resold. The items are new until purchased by a consumer. In fact dealers will send unsold goods direct to other dealers who may have an order for them.
To go further many manufacturers will supply on a sale or return basis.

Most of us knew months ago that the CS was discontinued although Lutz has dealers who have plenty of stock as they are well prepared for the rush to buy the old model lol.
To be fair if it is sold cheap enough the old CS could sell well for years and keep the postal authorites busy dealing with packages for repair and upgrades etc.
As I said ages ago my dealer advised that there would be no more old CS as M were working on the new one since the beginning of the year although possibly earlier.
Anyway guys it makes the threads all good fun and keeps us going.

Honestly with the faults being recorded with that unit I am pleased you (Wellington) got it instead of me. (That would be because we were going to do a C Track v K Track deal as well).

I am going to s i t b a c k and watch CS2 with interest.
Maybe a starter set that takes my fancy - dunno.

On e-Bay today Sept. 21, 2008 there are two 60212 controllers for sale. One is from Trainz in Atlanta, GA for $793 USD. It's the complete kit.

The other one is the upgraded version and is from Gutersloh, Germany and goes for $449 USD and $43 shipping to US. Both are new.

Just talked to Dion (toottoot.co.nz)
He has been upgrading my 3390 (done) & 3005 (next) with Loksound [:p]

He confirmed that I am off the hook re the 29840 and, like Bigdaddy, thought that M* 'might' re-release the set with a CS2.
If so, defineitely interested otherwise I'l just sit back and see what's on offer before I make a decision.
The only certantity is that Dion will get the order. Smile

Could you please take action against Herr Lutz Hemmerich a German Brave member of this forum who is making a personal attack me again against the rules of this forum of which he has no respect unless he cries for protection if he thinks someone his attacking him when in fact they are only defending them selves.

Apparently he thinks he is fire proof. and he is really a RC

I have ignored many attacks from the DH and I have had enough.

I have a question addressed at the native English speakers in this forum:
Wot does "discontinued" mean?

It seems that CS 60212 is a phase-out model (next Yearbook will tell for sure).
OTOH I do hope it's still supported and we'll see one or two software updates and more database updates.

So is CS1 discontinued coz it's a phase-out model?
Or is it not discontinued coz it's still supported?

Windows XP can't be bought, but we still get bug fixes. I'd call it discontinued, but I'd like to hear what native English speakers think about that.
But maybe it's only partially discontinued with ongoing support.

Discontinued normally means "no longer available for purchase from the manufacturer".

Unsupported means the manufacturer no longer supports the product for bug fixes / updates / repairs, etc.

Generally we call an item "discontinued" when removed from the actual catalog / line of products.
