The layout is inspired by a single track mainline serving a small ski resort in the German Sauerland region. Edited by user 30 December 2014 23:18:41(UTC)

Switchman´s nightmare? In this context, a similar looking dense 100 x 200 cm shunting module concept for two operators with M* C-track, this time with a potential connection to the outside world. I believe that the screenshots speak for themselves. http://www.stummiforum.de/viewtopic.php?t=34046 |

Hi Ak, The concept of those switching layouts is admirable, and I think they would be great fun to operate. Some lively ideas could be introduced to plan and build the scenics, with buildings and factories, and all sorts of interchange with road traffic. I can even imagine the use of the Kaelble road tractors, with the strasenroller street wagons (to haul railroad cars). If you have one of the Alak Insider add-on sets from 2011, off you go. Start with a paint factory. However in those examples, the idea of 2 operators using the layout simultaneously is never going to work, because both yards rely on the same switch lead. If (in the first diagram), the top yard is re-designed to use the outer right hand switch lead, it would be OK for two operators. regards Kimball |

Hi Kimball, Trying to imagine what you are suggesting. Can you draw a quick sketch of what you mean? Imagining two separated entrances into the yard, but not sure where. Or not sure which is "he outer right hand switch lead" Guess I am on the slow train today. - Mark Originally Posted by: kimballthurlow However in those examples, the idea of 2 operators using the layout simultaneously is never going to work, because both yards rely on the same switch lead. Yard A has 4 sidings, the switch lead allows a shunting (switcher) loco to go back and forth without disturbing the other yards. (Could incorporate a run around loop in the first two sidings). Yard B is larger, and the line to yards A and C is used as the switch lead. Yard C is presumably an industry, which requires the same lead as A, so that operating there will require synchronising with yard B. With the 2 separate switch leads, both A and B yards can be operated or shunted independently. regards Kimball |

Normally I am not into material battles, but I find this private tongue in cheek documentation of a German gentleman about his Maerklin H0 scale emporium appealing. The German title translates into "The blissful model railroad smile". |

Layout filling a 3 x 4 m room. A little bit crowded, but I like the freight orientation plus freight yard position (and the long mainline). And - having one myself - I am always attracted by an orange train room wall. :o) Track plan. It took me some time to understand functionalities. For example, how does the "Hundling" branch line terminal tie in? "Hundling" is at the right end of the long bridge (outside the picture). Then I realized...it is a board suspended above the southeast layout leg. There it is... Another bi-level approach revealed. |

That last one is a stunner. The track plan is great and there are a number of amazing scenery elements. On the Stummi site, you can also see the very creative adaptation of well known kits. Really great stuff.

Korruptiland has a real nice feel to it. Nice lines. The E-94 with all those round roof wagons is a really cool train. Mikey

By trapdoors I think Thewolf So I also think (as seen his roundhouse is removable) but he has hidden the seams well... must be a technique for that. The other problem with trap doors is how they remove. You really need them to drop down since if you left it up and out - where do you put it? Dropping them down I guess you'd need some latches and the risk of damaging the module is still high... |
