Hi,
I tried to do a search but it left me without any good information.
What does everyone use for lubricating oil. For Marklin trains and slot cars both Faller and Marklin. Any advise will be very helpful.

Hi Lance, For you in the USA the answer is very easy, Labelle's !  If you do a search it is available in other parts of the world, particularly the UK ! see; http://www.con-cor.com/lablubes.htmI use 107 for Locomotives, 108 for rolling stock, and 102 on metal gears, particularly the older style Marklin gears, it does help quieten them For Plastic gears on Marklin I use the 106 Grease with PTFE. However read their web page, it seems there have been some recent improvements ! I also recommend the Trix 66626 Grease for Modern Marklin Metal Gears, but it is good on the older ones also I also use the Trix grease on the newer Locos where recommended  |

So. what's used in Europe then? If for some reason you can't get Labelle's. |

Others may disagree, but the newest Marklin oil (in the white bottle with black lid) also seems to work fine, but their applicator leaves a bit to be desired. Normally I will use a needle or toothpick to apply it instead of trying to apply it out of the dropper on the bottle. If you search the forum there is a lot of discussion about oils. Some like Faller, etc. Most likely as long as you lubricate correctly (not too much) any brand will work fine. The screw drive units that use grease are a bit more tricky. -Brandon |
