Hi All, The latest object of my desire is the Bavarian DXII loc, preferably in the brown Palatine Railroad livery. I am now in doubt which version to pursue. The brown 34121 has a delta decoder with no load compensation The brown 26535 has a load compensated MFX decoder, but also a rather ugly black cover behind the windows. The green 37135 has this cover as well, though less prominent due to the presence of the door frame. The green 26731 however has again an open cab, but also an MFX decoder. Pictures taken from www.saebonet.com and www.osterthun.com (Members here) - Thank you Questions: - How bad are the running characteristics of the delta 34121? - What is behind the black cover of the brown 26535? I would prefer this one, but could the ugly internals be hidden from view by placing a loc driver in the door opening, or moving the black screen more inwards? - Why is the green 26731 fully open again? Is it equiped with a smaller decoder? See also https://www.marklin-user...-quality.aspx#post393153 for more pics. Best regards, Gregor

Hi Gregor, Good to see you here! Even though I have most of the models on your list (except for 34121), I am afraid I can only partially answer your questions. For starters, the 26731 is a newly tooled loco, compared to the other three. As a consequence, the loco house could be fully open. In spite of this new tooling, it is still not a perfect runner, but okay enough from my point of view. Please refer to these topics for a little more input on that model: https://www.marklin-user...-quality.aspx#post393153https://www.marklin-user...vs-26731.aspx#post351707I did run a few tests with 37135 in comparison to 26731; I found both to be running quite well, as long as you are not overly ambitious in terms of load; it handles three or four cars (a prototypical consist) well enough, though. Either way, it might not be the very best runner, I do like the looks and special wheel arrangement a lot. Hope this helps, |

My 37138 runs beautifully, and pulls a few 4-wheel coaches or freight wagons without the slightest hesitation. I can totally recommend it. |

Hi Sander and Ray, Thanks a lot for your answers. I somehow missed that second post https://www.marklin-users.net/fo...vs-26731.aspx#post351707although I searched the Forum. Still I am interested to know what is behind the curtain of the 26535. Is the cab really filled up more than the 34121 ? Best regards, Gregor

Why is there no sounds too? It should have plenty space of speaker too. |

Hi Gregor, Judging by the Exploded View on Märklin.de, the decoder seems to be placed upright in the cab. (See: http://www.maerklin.de/s...amp;artikelnummer=26535) I would be happy to open mine, but will not have access to it for a few weeks. Perhaps someone else has the model for grabs to open it and take a picture? Regards, |

Thank you all,
I ordered a 34121 today, mostly because of the open cab. If I am not satisfied with the performance, I can put another decoder in it and close the cab myself, or have the decoder hidden in the first carriage of the 43981, which I ordered to come with it.
Best regards, Gregor

The 34121 arrived today. What a beauty!
Pulling power is OK, I got her a 4 car consist 43981 and she pulls this up a 4% slope without any issue. The only surprise... Even in digital mode, the lights behave as in analogue: They are off when the loc does not run, and they light up with increasing speed.
Best regards, Gregor

Sounds like the lights are somehow wired to the decoder motor output side, doesn't it? |

It's not a bug, it's a feature: this is the normal behaviour of most Delta locos (the Delta Control 6604 couldn't even control headlights). |

Thanks Tom, I did not know that. This is my first Delta loc.
I will consider some rewiring to have the front light permanently lit, but first I want to get some running experience to see if the delta decoder satisfies me or that I will later replace the whole decoder.
Best regards, Gregor

Best regards, Gregor Hi Gregor, behind the curtain of the 26535 you see the engine, a packet decoder and a lot of coloured wires. I have Painted the engine and wires in black. About the 37135 the decoder is an old version, more big and without protection, better to leave the curtain |

Hi Alberto! Quick question- who made the italian building in the background? Is it a kit? (sorry for the slightly off topic post) |
