The "Norddeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft Niebüll GmbH (neg)" is a subsidiary of the Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL), operating, inter alia, the short line between Niebüll - Dagebüll. During recent summers (hélas not in 2014), "neg" was running passenger trains with steam locomotives in regularly scheduled service as a tourist attraction. Here is a 2008 photo of a 52 series steamer with modern white through coaches from Hamburg in tow. Edited by user 13 July 2014 21:28:51(UTC)

Wow... you guys gave this thread quite a ride. Running in competition. And makes sense to think about short trains since so many of us run them, they give great inspiration.
Good to see you have been busy posting in my absence. Just wanted to bump this thread up with my appreciation and thanks.
Especially liked seeing the V200/220 being doubled up. That it was a reliability question at their last days of service fascinates me.

I believe earlier in this thread (or perhaps one of the others?) there were two BR44 nose to nose, maybe a somewhat regular practice on certain lines? The BR50 makes more sense to me as it can run the same speed in either direction and frequently would run backwards on branches with no turntable. Still a bit odd, but more fun to model :) As far as EMD, mostly I see (as you well know) ATSF putting the nose of an A unit into the back of a B unit. A to A in resver elephant does not seem to be that common (even though many railroads had more A units than B units!). However...there is this...(smooch?) Hi AK, Wiki says yes with trains to Bari and Altamura. I have not been there in a long time. Wiki shows two stations, new underground and old two level station is preserved. Ciao! Peter

Is there any other kind of F unit? :) These are in service on a historic railway that runs through part of former D&RGW's Royal Gorge line. I am not sure why they are labeled that way, I have never seen a photo of an actual D&RGW unit with those labels during the time the railroad existed. I am not sure about the orange either. The orange got deeper is the years went on, but even this seems very...orange. What is this called anyway, push-push service? -Brandon |

When I started reading that, I thought she was demanding you get an Orange train. You could, just a small misunderstanding ;) I suppose she saw my wall and said "we must have THAT orange!" An example for inpiration, D&RGW (suprise!) Royal Gorge service in 1965, another example of their Alco/F7 mashup and two coaches. -Brandon BrandonVA attached the following image(s): |
