This looks like the Glenfinnan Viaduct, on the West Highland Railway in Scotland. I've been over it a couple of times.
It is also the viaduct that appears in the Harry potter films with the Hogwarts Express steaming over. |

Hi Ray
You're not wrong - it is indeed the Glen Finnan viaduct.
The steamer operates from Fort William to Mallaig and return during the summer months.

For anyone out there being impacted by the serious issue of EMD jealousy, here are a few shots to assure your current units are prototypical: Galveston, Texas 2012 Greenville, South Carolina, 2012 Chicago, Illinois, 1973 Joliet, Illinois, 1973 |

Greetz - Ak I think you've got the band back together :) I thought the thread was for inspiration. For model railroads, not for other members to become clowns ;) Although sometimes it's hard to tell with all those bright colours... I think a similar scene would not be uncommon in 1:87(ish) Norfolk Southern and RJ Corman at Lexington, Kentucky, 2012 -Brandon |

Too short tunnels, too many of them? Mainline curving around with one curve in sight of the other? It is prototypical: The "Badische Schwarzwaldbahn" near Triberg in the German Black Forest forms several "balloons" almost touching each other with a number of very short tunnels. The Wutach Valley Railway in the Black Forest, Germany, has a series of curves (including one complete circle) with spectacular large viaducts, tunnels and bridges plus the only spiral railway tunnel in Germany. Photo shows portal of the Stockhalde spiral tunnel, which is clearly identifiable on the attached map, too. Alsterstreek attached the following image(s): |
