So a move away from DCM for this classic model. Makes me worry a little more about the motors in the new F7s.......

It also mentions two powered axles per motorized unit, which also suggests classic HLA. There is no mention of cardan shafts or similar. I also don't think any of the F7s have appeared as Trix models. The Nohabs may also be available in DC under the Trix moniker. Regards Mike C

Not very much to my (rather specific) taste, but at least new items across the board (era's, regions, etc.). So, quite a nice set of new items! The thing that struck me most, though... what happened to the BR 05 Cab Forward which is even featured in the Märklin Technical Drawings repository? Time will tell, I guess... Regards,

For the F7 it will most likely be the classic HLA. "Geregelter Hochleistungsantrieb" means nothing as they use that phrase for all locos. It only means "DC motor with load-regulated decoder". Two powered axles means nothing. Last year they announced BR 152, 182, and 189 with two powered axles (classic HLA) but later changed this to four powered axles (maintenance-free motor, centrally mounted).

I bought the Kansas City southern f7 and while I like the model was unimpressed by the headlight.

Would go for E 44 or BR 141 or Reihe 1018.0 (oh, no full sounds on last loco again). Bearing in mind worst ever rouble-euro exchange rate, now thinking about one new loco only. Also quickly looked through New Items brochure in German: page 79 - I see the image of BR 55 but name of the loco is not mentioned in the description at all...

The new F7 has interior details and LEDs where the old F7 had no interior details and one light bulb. From the description I expect it will be like the Alco PA1 with at least 3 LEDs instead of a single light bulb.

What I like about this set is that it has only one Vista Dome coach. I am tired of Vista Dome .. Despite the price must be a top price as well....I think I'll make an effort.

The SOO line F7 in the big picture with the steelmill in the background has milky front windows. Let us wait and see. Paul.

I am expecting a mechanical lowering of the moulding of the coal within the tender. One then has to wonder where the decoder and speaker will be placed ?? It seems this will only be available to Cab Control operators, so it better not have too premium a price on it hopefully as they may not sell too many except of course to CS2 operators I want one

In comparison the 26600 California Zephyr set with A-B-B loco and 6 coaches currently sells for 540 Euro on internet. Surely there will be sound differences between the two sets,still the price difference is worth thinking about.

Joined: 10/08/2009(UTC) Posts: 3,443		About Marklin F7 locomotives in general: Me having a limited budget and buying locomotives for static display only,i might as well opt for the old range of analogue/Delta F7 units,such as the Alaska version on sale for around 250 Euro's or the F7 Demonstrator on sale for around 150 Euro's. Both A-B-A and two drive motors. The Demonstrator is regarded an ugly duck by many,but not by me,it has beautiful detail. For every purse there is a F7 !

Finally, the fact that the DCM motor manufacturer is also the one who introduce brushless motors in MRR is not surprising. As a concept both motors have common points, one of them being their long lasting.... Marklin did it.

The 6080 has no load regulation, so I would expect it to slow down on the uphill sections and speed up on the downhills. I run many of my older locos with Delta and 6080 decoders without problems because I have no gradients on my layout. However, slow speed running is virtually non-existant on locos with the 6080 and Delta decoders, so I upgrade my nicer locos anyway just to see them crawl along at walking pace.

I have Br261, 212, 216, 141, 111, 194, 144 and soon also the 290 all in these colours. I'm very tempted by the 103 in particular.

I can understand that Ray..I do too! However these are pure fantasy models: nor the 103 or the 120 were ever painted in these colors. If I remember correctly the"Toy Fair Special" has always been a fantasy model I bet you the road numbers will be 103 2014 and 120 2014... Last year Black Crocodile was another good example. ( numbered 14 2013..) Yes, I loved it and I bought it... It crossed the Atlantic twice since I bought it from a long time dealer/friend in the US! Cheers

I can always imagine that, in my fantasy world, DB decided to try the turqouise and beige livery on a couple of the Br103 and B120 locos for use on non-IC passenger trains
