I notice that the product description for the two new Nohabs 39672 and 39673 describes 4 axles driven by cardon shafts. So a move away from DCM for this classic model.
Makes me worry a little more about the motors in the new F7s.......

The description for the F7 states Geregelter Hochleistungsantrieb which I believe is the classic HLA. It also mentions two powered axles per motorized unit, which also suggests classic HLA.
There is no mention of cardan shafts or similar.
I also don't think any of the F7s have appeared as Trix models. The Nohabs may also be available in DC under the Trix moniker.

Hi all,
An interesting listing, I have to admit. Not very much to my (rather specific) taste, but at least new items across the board (era's, regions, etc.). So, quite a nice set of new items! The thing that struck me most, though... what happened to the BR 05 Cab Forward which is even featured in the Märklin Technical Drawings repository? Time will tell, I guess...
Regards,
Sander

For the F7 it will most likely be the classic HLA.
"Geregelter Hochleistungsantrieb" means nothing as they use that phrase for all locos. It only means "DC motor with load-regulated decoder".
Two powered axles means nothing. Last year they announced BR 152, 182, and 189 with two powered axles (classic HLA) but later changed this to four powered axles (maintenance-free motor, centrally mounted).

Tom

The item number of the Soo Lines F7 begins with the numbers 39 and not 37,this is not good.I noticed that the front handrails of the locomotive is sepatelly applied.Maybe we have a new body shell for the F7 and maybe that means and new motors. We will see.

I like the f7 super chief. My question is about the Mars light. Is it like prior marklin f7s, where there is just a whole with out a lens or is this going to be an actual Mars light. I bought the Kansas City southern f7 and while I like the model was unimpressed by the headlight.

IMHO new items are very good. They tried to hook era III fans and they definitely hooked me.
Would go for E 44 or BR 141 or Reihe 1018.0 (oh, no full sounds on last loco again).
Bearing in mind worst ever rouble-euro exchange rate, now thinking about one new loco only.
Also quickly looked through New Items brochure in German:
page 79 - I see the image of BR 55 but name of the loco is not mentioned in the description at all...

Who knows?
The new F7 has interior details and LEDs where the old F7 had no interior details and one light bulb.
From the description I expect it will be like the Alco PA1 with at least 3 LEDs instead of a single light bulb.

if Marklin awakes to care about finishings, this should be a top set...
What I like about this set is that it has only one Vista Dome coach.
I am tired of Vista Dome ..
Despite the price must be a top price as well....I think I'll make an effort.

Funny enough, the pictures shown for the Santa Fe and SOO Line F7 locomotives show the old fashioned versions with milky windows.
Must assume they both have clear windows when on sale.

Probably just a mock-up at this stage.

Regards,
Sander, I'm guessing this will be a second Insider model later in the year. Maybe with the Summer new items?

The Santa Fe F7 in the artist impression showing the front has clear front windows,in the brochure en profile it has milky windows.
The SOO line F7 in the big picture with the steelmill in the background has milky front windows.
Let us wait and see.

It will be interesting to see how they achieve that.

It will be interesting to see how they achieve that.
I am expecting a mechanical lowering of the moulding of the coal within the tender. One then has to wonder where the decoder and speaker will be placed ??
It seems this will only be available to Cab Control operators, so it better not have too premium a price on it
hopefully as they may not sell too many
except of course to CS2 operators
I want one

I was hoping for a more economical year so I could get some of the models from previous years missing from my collection.

oooooo oooooo...
I just spotted a rail car with the video door... 39730... Very nice..
What is also interesting is that they are using the Eurostar brand on one of the starter battery locos. Hopefully they have the rights to do a HO version..

Has anyone read the description in the database for the 37568 crocodile? It looks like a copy/paste error, unless there are really meant to be two locos in the box?

Price setting for the Santa Fe Super Chief set 26496 is remarkable.
Recommended price is close to 1,200 Euro.
In comparison the 26600 California Zephyr set with A-B-B loco and 6 coaches currently sells for 540 Euro on internet.
Surely there will be sound differences between the two sets, still the price difference is worth thinking about.

15 years have gone by since the 26600 set came out. A lot of new technology has been introduced since then, and I'm sure a lot of that will be in the new set. Besides that, I'm pretty sure the original recommended price for the 26600 was a lot more than 540 euro.

Ray,
If you buy the 26496 I buy the 26600,do we have a deal?
That saves me some 500 Euro to buy another nice item, perhaps an UP A-B-B 37629.
The coaches are very much the same as those introduced in the late ninetees,it is a cash cow for Marklin, they keep throwing them out of the factory with different roadnames.
I had all the individual Santa Fe alu coaches and sold them.
The only difference I see is the railing on the roof of the vista dome.
As always on this forum: if you can afford the money,go for it!

I'm not into US trains, but I would probably also buy the 26600 at that price.

About Marklin F7 locomotives in general:
Me having a limited budget and buying locomotives for static display only,i might as well opt for the old range of analogue/Delta F7 units, such as the Alaska version on sale for around 250 Euro's or the F7 Demonstrator on sale for around 150 Euro's.
Both A-B-A and two drive motors.
The Demonstrator is regarded an ugly duck by many, but not by me,it has beautiful detail.
For every purse there is a F7 !

Makes me worry a little more about the motors in the new F7s.......
There are some models on which DCM is quiet & not Noisy....
F7 with Digital Equipment are not so Noisy....It seems Marklin recently has made something about it.
Anyway I'm not objective: 'cause I love DCM motorizations. I love them for many reasons :
they are the latest motorizations designed according to criteria of micro mechanics drown upon the watchmaking tradition of the Black Forest.
(
While the little can motors with worm gear are derived from office automation applications
)
5 poles DCM with cogwheel is the most efficient way in terms of power transmission.
DCM motor never dies : you can always change parts....
I would like Marklin improves the 5 poles DCM me too. This motor can be improved, so Marklin could stay with it a long long long time
I also love brushless motors like SDS...
Finally, the fact that the DCM motor manufacturer is also the one who introduce brushless motors in MRR is not surprising. As a concept both motors have common points, one of them being their long lasting....
Marklin did it.

It is a good sollution but if you want to run the locomotives you have to upgrade them.I bought the Santa Fe 3662 with the 6080 decoder. It was impossible to run the loco with a lot of wagons.I upgrade the loco with two 60941 motors and 60946 decoder and now running like a dream and pulls everything i want to put after her.The same i am gonna do with the Alaska i bought a few days ago.

My 3649 runs quite fast for being a 6080. Did it work with just one decoder?

Speed wan not the problem, the problem was the pulling power. In uphill sections of the layout it was difficult for the 6080 to work for the two three pole motors. The 60946 working perfect with the two 60941.i run the Santa Fe with twelve metal USA cars for over an hour and the loco not even get hot.I will do the same conversion with the Alaska I bought lately.

The 6080 has no load regulation, so I would expect it to slow down on the uphill sections and speed up on the downhills. I run many of my older locos with Delta and 6080 decoders without problems because I have no gradients on my layout. However, slow speed running is virtually non-existant on locos with the 6080 and Delta decoders, so I upgrade my nicer locos anyway just to see them crawl along at walking pace.

According to
http://www.ciciessemodel.it/blog/index.html
seems it will be a pair of electric locos BR103 and BR120:
"Possiamo anche anticipare quale sarà il
modello edizione speciale Fiera di Norimberga 2014 (non contenuto nel catalogo):
si tratta di una coppia di locomotori elettrici tedeschi (un 103 e un 120)
in un’insolita livrea beige e turchese.
La tiratura sarà limitata."
Google translation:
We can also anticipate what will be the
special edition model Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014 (not contained in the catalog):
This is a pair of electric locomotives in Germany (a 103 and a 120)
livery in an unusual beige and turquoise.
The print run will be limited.
Best regards,
Miguel

That will be unusual! Did the Br103 and Br120 ever run in these colours?
I'm a great fan of the turquoise and beige era. I have Br261, 212, 216, 141, 111, 194, 144 and soon also the 290 all in these colours. I'm very tempted by the 103 in particular.

I can understand that Ray..I do too!
However these are pure fantasy models: nor the 103 or the 120 were ever painted in these colors.
If I remember correctly the"Toy Fair Special" has always been a fantasy model
I bet you the road numbers will be 103 2014 and 120 2014...
Last year Black Crocodile was another good example. ( numbered 14 2013..)
Yes, I loved it
and I bought it...
It crossed the Atlantic twice since I bought it from a long time dealer/friend in the US!

Hi Jacques,
All model railways are fantasies. You just have to decide what works for you!
I can always imagine that, in my fantasy world, DB decided to try the turqouise and beige livery on a couple of the Br103 and B120 locos for use on non-IC passenger trains
