Snow in Istanbul! I didn't know it was possible. Even more interesting is the connection of Piyer Loti (the famous French novelist) with your country. I am sure you know all about it, but I had no idea that Pierre Loti was so famous in Turkey and that one of your poets - Nazim Hikmet - wrote a poem about him (thank you Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Loti ) Regards, Pierre

Hi Mehmet,
I like this thread very much. I can understand David's concern, but I'm quite happy to wait until I can view it at my leisure at home. Please carry on posting in your own unique way! |

Well, The latest exchanges remind me, unfortunately, of another thread ... Like the "Too many thanks in topics" thread, it resembles a real non-issue ... ^^ Technically (we'll let Juhan sound off ...), the "new" Forum server seems to handle all extra photos, multiple posts, "reply with quote" (including a gazillion photos) and 100's of smileys no problem ... and sure, some clients (smartphones, tablets, mobile devices in general) will have some connection issues that slow down viewing, no doubt ... I usually save viewing the forum for my wicked-fast Ethernet connection ... ^^ So Mehmet, whatever you do, and because many people follow your thread ... don't stop posting please ! Perhaps just take into account as many parameters as possible, including ; mobile device users, concentrating as many of your photos as possible in one post at a time rather than 1 photo per post (Photobucket willing), asking yourself if all the photos are necessary to describe a scene ... etc. Peace, and keep on truckin' ! Mehmet, Another wonderful story of international visitors to MarklinIstanbul. It's just over a year ago that I also enjoyed your hospitality at your layout on my visit to Istanbul. Thanks for keeping us all informed. Regards, John

Strewth, it was not my intention to start a war or anything, so I apologise if anyone has taken offense. I too enjoy viewing these types of threads. I might not have posted in it for some time, but that doesn't mean I don't look.
All I was trying to do was ask Mehmet to keep in mind his potential audience when posting, and structure things in the best way. I'm not telling him to not post or anything like that, after all this is Mehmet's 'personal' thread about his layout!
Thanks to Juhan for giving a visual representation of what I was trying to say.

Sorry for being OT, but relating to the mobile browsing issue, one thing I've found when browsing a thread with lots of photos, is that because it does take a while to load the complete page you might have browsed to the middle of the thread and started reading. Seconds later, the rest of the thread loads and then the browser takes you to the bottom of the thread, and you lose your place where you were reading. That might be a quirk of the SIII, the Chrome browser, or due to Telecom NZ's 3G network, but it is disconcerting when it happens. That is where I was coming from, and again sorry if anyone got upset and thought I was telling Mehmet to not post!

Kristof Hi Kristof, As you said, a lay out can be happy and full of life as long as it receives visitors..... otherwise it is nothing but a ghost field..... Who knows maybe you and your girlfrined might give the joy to the little people of marklinistanbul..... Cheers, mehmet ps: due to the preprations to the Göppingen visit I hardly find time for marklinistanbul....but promise to compensate when I am back.... |
