Bart, how do you get decals for your locos? You buy them somewhere or you make them on your own?
Pietro
I make them myself on an ALPS printer.
My last project: 112.4
Looks very similar to märklin's model, but has diffrent bogies and roof.

The orange Eurofima coaches are the right era and also look pretty good - unfortunately I only have two 1sts and a 2nd which is a rather bizarre train, especially as the firsts are from the SNCF and OBB and the 2nd is Belgian! It does look pretty good though - trying to build a complete set of these.
I also use to run this loco with international coaches (mainly FS or DB) reproducing an Eurocity or an international night train, or some goods trains. But I don't know what they actually pulled when they were owned by SBB. Someone knows?

The photos I've found here
http://www.bahnbilder.de...~Re+4+4+IV%28SBB%29.html
show a real mixture of stock including SBB, SNCF/SNCB "Inox" TEE stock, C1 (orange) Eurofimas and DB red/beige and blue/beige. I've let my 3323 loose on the carpetbahn with my TEE set before now, unfortunately as it's still analogue I can't run it on my semi-fixed layout in the attic (digital with MS).

@ bart: Very nice as usual
@ Welsh Matt: Thank you. It seems they pulled only passenger long distance trains (neither goods nor regional trains).

Here is my Märklin BR 111, 83342. It is converted to DC with a HAMO chassis. I also attached a 5-pole rotor and an ESU decoder. With this setup the loco runs very well. It gains a lot compared to the original 3-pole rotor with Delta decoder.
And here at work with the corresponding passenger cars.

This weekend I got a excellent E40 072, No box, but I sure this was from a Premium Digital Starter set. Did it ever have a part number.
It appears to be new but the sound is very weak, at full volume, was this typical of this model, or should I install a new 100 ohm speaker.

Yes, they are. It was a special edition by "Spiel + Idee".
I do not know if somebody posted the following link before. It is a good archive for Märklin and Roco models. The last update is some time ago unfortunately.

The Re 4/4IV were mostly used on Express train traffic between Geneva and Domodossola as well as between Vallorbe (French border) and Brig/Domodossola.
These locomotives could be found during their years in service with the SBB pulling most of the various types of SBB Coaches as well as many international consists, including SNCF Mistral 69 (TEE Cisalpin), FS TEE Coaches (TEE Lemano), SNCF UIC-Y, FS UIC-X and other coaches.
I no longer have my 3328, but I have the 10103 from Roco, as well as 446 016 Seedamm, 446 017 Tesa and 446 018 in SOB colors. These loks pull my SOB/BT EWIVs, Lima and Hag SOB EWIs as well as my Wabu Voralpenexpress train set.
The Maerklin equivalent would be a 37301 with a 42161 Set.
I suppose that you could use the SNCF Inox Set to look like the Mistral 69s behind 10102 or 10103.

Here is my new, long awaited loco. It is my first fully metal loco. What a nice feeling. It is heavier than my other locos such as Roco and Fleischmann. Because I am a DC guy, this Re 460 is the HAMO version. I will test and explore it later.
At first, one moderate pic. I had not enough time to make a better one. Maybe later more.

Very good Vardex. I saw some of your other paint jobs in another forum. They are all great.
The Re 460 runs with the 3-pole rotor well. But the 5-pole rotor is already ordered. I will also test ball bearings (I hope it is the right term in this context). Last year I made the same conversion with an BR 111 HAMO (the above described) without ball bearings. Let's see how ball bearings change the performance of the Re 460.

very nice - is this a repaint or some sort of special edition? if you did the painting youself, did you make you own decals for the side artwork, or are they made by some company (and who are they/website, etc)?
if you make you own decals, what do you print them with (laser, inkjet, or ALPS)? I know some very good model airplane decals get printed with the ALPS printer - or at least some guys used to use them.
thanks

Vardex (Bart) mentioned further up (pls. see: 2007/12/24 : 22:42:31) that he makes his own decals using an ALPS printer.
But what is an ALPS?

Bart, once again I'm amazed by your stunningly beautiful modifications of locomotives.
I agree with Benny ,could you please elaborate more on how it's done?
ALPS is a brand name and a name for a method of printing isn't it?
Looking forward to more of your work.

Hoi
Thanks for the nice respones
How it was done?
Base was a roco 63700 in the actually red livery. So I didn't have to paint the light grey parts, also lettering stayed on.
Grey was taped, and the entire body painted white. after this blue and the red roof.
Houses were found on the internet. Here was a rather good picture of the side of the loko. This picture was stretched and straigthened using coreldraw. After this houses were extracted from the picture and saved on my competer as a JPG file. The same houses were also saved as a vectorfile (SVG) and imported in Inkscape. (Freeware, try this!)
After this the drawing was split up into two layers, one for printing the white base (with an ALPS printer), the other layer for colour (over the white).
The Ameropa logo also was found on the net, and converted into an SVG file, split into layers and printed out on an alps.
Most different part was the lettering "mach mal kurz urlaub". This are no fonts, so I had to convert these from a very small picture. It took me about 12 hours to get these acceptable.
The lokonumbers are a font on my computer, so this was easy.

I see some very special locomotives in this thread, and brilliant paint jobs.
I also have an unusual Bo-Bo, it was produced for Mercedes Benz dealerships, as part of a set #26527. There were 1200 Marklin sets made, plus 200 in Trix 2-rail.
It is a Class 182, all-metal body, and can be controlled digitally. I don't know much else about the prototype or model, because I usually model era III.
I hope you like it.
regards
Kimball

Kimball: very nice! Do you know if it's a reproduction of a real loco or it is just a promotional model? I didn't find any picture on the net!
Jon: I think there is nobody else that can produce such a model as ameropa BR110

Hi Pietro,
Sorry for the delay.
I very much doubt if there was a real locomotive painted in this colour. I think Mercedes Benz used it as a promtional model only.
The dealerships sold the sets to their customers. It came with 24 Herpa model 'S' class cars in chrome finish, on car carriers.

I have the delta version of the Teun Hoks loco class 120. I'm almost glad it's plastic. It won't ever corrode.

Very nice pictures all! I also like the regular light bulbs on the re-460's. The pant's crease locs. ar very attractive. I like my 39120 E10.3 The station announcements are neat to hear. "Mitte Einshliegen, ---- aum ver daunkaft?"

Not quite sure about your station announcement. Maybe if the announcer was drunk and had his mouth full.
I think that it should be "Bitte Einsteigen, Tueren Schliessen, Vorsicht bei der Abfahrt"
(All Aboard, Doors Closing, Caution on Departure)
I have the same PA on my Gottardo Set. Not Swiss at all.

Very nice, Mike. I like the Re4/4 II's very much, especially in TEE colours like yours. (I only have the boring Green one!)

Thanks for the correct translation Mike. No it certainly is not Swiss, but then there isn't a Swiss language. They speak Italian, German, or French. I like yor Re 4/4 II also. I see it has a drivers cab, unlike the 3rd. prototype series from marklin. I bet they re-issue it with one. The older E 10's did not have them either. The TEE color scheme is attractive. I only have DB tractive power for my Rheingold/Helvetia.
