Hi, I thought I'll make a comment about the new crocodile smooth run like silk. It is a bit of irony when Roco locos in the past have been criticised for being plastic but the other great feature of Roco locos always have been the smooth running like silk for many years but nobody had considered this as a plus, suddenly new Märklin locos come onto the market and reading the posts it looks like the noise of Märklin locos from the past must have disturbed a number of people.

I just got my 37567 today and I agree that it is a great looking Crocodile . Very detailed compared to earlier Märklin Crocodiles. I had also to set sound volume down a bit (255 => 210). I just ran it for a minute and put it in a display case as I don't want store it in it's wooden box. Very good looking model that I want to see daily without unpacking it from it's box.

This one is my 13th Crocodile. I have six green, five brown, one white and now this black Crocodile. Five of them are "big" like 36159 brown, 31859 green, two 31860 green and one 31860 white versions. Eight are these correct 1:87 scale "small" Crocodiles. Four brown versions including two 31860, 39561 and 39565. Three green versions including two 3756 (Be 6/8 III and Ce 6/8 III) and one from starter set 29680 = same as 39563.

This black Crocodile looks so good that I think I will rearrange all my locos in display cases and put Crocodiles at "spot lights" . I will also run this black version, but not often. My white and green "big" Crocodiles don't see any track time and are only in their display cases. But this black one has full sound and nice details and two motor technic so I know already that I can't resist to take it for a run sometimes .

I have altered quite a bit on my older Märklin locos:
converted them with a 5 pole motor
corrected the brushes shaft
added ball bearings both sides on most of my locos
used a Roco whisper slider since Märklin altered the studs on the c-track

Thank you for the very clear pictures, especially of the pantographs.

I have struggled to "raise my pantos" but could not figure how.

From your nice pictures, I could see the rectangular hole whhere
the pin fits in to lock the pantograph down.

Without your very clear pictures, I would not have a hope in raising
them up.

Nice and clear shooting than other pictures i ever saw before.
Simply one unsatification for me on this new tooling is the uncorrect pantographs.
I'm disappointed to see the old and mistaken pantograph mounted on the roof.

Märklin had in their old CCS 800 Crocodile pantographs that looked more like a real thing (I mean only the upper part of it) before year 1951. Those where made between 1947-1950. I actually have two original "old new" spare pantographs type 4.1 that could be used in some of my Crocodiles, but they have flat metal underside and could only be used in the older design Crocodiles. These are to be used without any plastic part under them and I'm not really sure if they even fit these bigger older "3015" design 36159, 31859 or 31860 Crocodiles. I really love the looks of them, at least for their age . Here is a link to some repro type 4.1 pantographs:

Steven, its a good job you ordered one early in the peace as they are going out the door like hot cakes. I think hard to find now & at a premium price.

I'm a Lucky man, I saw the crocodile in black livery ....

this model is so beautiful, it has such a presence, it looks so real ...I feel the same with AE 8/14 in brown livery: truer than true !
It is a very particular feeling : you can not believe that this machine does not exist in real life ...


That is the Marklin expertise but I cannot explain its nature ,.....probably the result of more than 100 years into train manufacturing : experience .

A few things that owners of the new stunning Black Krokodil #37567 should be aware of:

1). Firstly I jokingly call these "eyelashes". Under the roof these two silver (metal) components are only held in at two push in type locator points. Keep your hands well away from them so they don't dislodge or get bent & trust me it is easily done. The same would go for the two new brown & green twins #37565

2)There are two grey plastic push in components on front right hand side of each loco located behind the steps. In one of my photos you will notice on one instead of two of these components & the other photo showing other side of the loco you will notice it has two of these components. The point I am making is that they fall off very easily. I found my missing one lying in the box loose.

Moral of the story is watch where you place your fingers when handling these new models please.
