Dimi,

Prices in Euro's show on page 192 of the New items brochure, that is the list of article numbers.
The prices shown are socalled recommended sales prices.
As per law Maerklin are not allowed to dictate fixed prices to shops.
You will see that over the next months various internet shops will come up with lower prices for these new items,i think it is worthwile to wait for that.
As explained by me in another topic, the Kansas F7 three part Diesel loco is Euro 100.- more expensive in the Maerklin shop in Rotterdam as compared to the internet selling price as offered by some German sellers.
You see the same thing for other brandnames, the new Piko 50406 Br01 steamer for AC has recommended sellingprice od Euro 189.99,already now it is offered for Euro 169.99,and it is not even available yet!

Cheers,
Paul.

The Rheingold set shall come in Q4/2023 (maybe a Fall new item or MHI Exclusive 4/2013). The Loco is announced for Q2/2013 (maybe showing in the Summer new items).

At least one German dealer has some prices listed

http://www.modellbahn-bender.de/bender2.htm

Discounts of around 25%, at least on the Gauge 1 items. Maybe a bit less on H0 items.

Hi,

To my knowledge, the full blown new items brochure in English is not available yet.

However, there's a simplified version of it in the LokShop web site available at: http://catalog.lokshop.de/MAR/nshow_2013_en_c.pdf
At a first glance it seems to contain all the items announced in the brochure.

Regards,
Pedro

Thanks for that Pedro. Lokshop normally release their own pdf of the new items a week or so after the main release, so thanks for pointing that out - I've been checking their website every day, waiting for it.

If this year's Big Boy is indeed the rumoured 4014 as earlier posted, this would be the same road number as the one that Union Pacific is considering to make operational as reported in the TRAINS Magazine online news wire. There are probably some other free articles on this. (The news wire is only accessible to the magazine subscribers)

Big Boy 4014:

Would it not be nice if Maerklin would sponsor the restoration?
Could be a bit costly.......

Years ago,Maerklin brought the TEE Ram back from Canada,i saw it at Goppingen station during the M days, having the M logo painted on.
Now it is on a sidetrack near Amsterdam, waiting for.....money?

Cheers from a cold minus 5C and snowy Holland,

And Märklin needs to sharpen up their production planning. The "clearance-sales" they do are too frequent and affects too many models. The sales are not the exception any more, they are the rule.
I don't have statistical data but it feels as if Märklin is now where Roco was a few years ago: when new items are announced, you can lean back and wait until you can get them 40+ % below RRP.
Many have said they won't pre-order this year and this will make calculations more difficult for Märklin.

Roco is at a different stage: they cancelled several models as they didn't get enough pre-orders. Also a bad buyer's experience: you pre-order something and nine months later they tell you it won't be made. Märklin might reach that stage in a few years.

Increasing the volume of sales by any means (to find a buyer for the company) seems to be high priority for Märklin now. Making a few too many may be a good tactic for that purpose.
I'm a victim of that tactic (spent to much money on clearance sales - one more reason not to place pre-orders this year).
The money they get for reduced clearance sales items cannot be spent for regular price items any more - a good short-term tactic to impress Simba/Dickie and other potential buyers or to keep the banks quiet and calm, but probably a bad long-term strategy.

What an imagination !

Darn it...

Now I have to order the Big Boy too. I was just a little interested before the picture. Now I´m hooked!

Btw, Märklin has changed the text on their site for 26495. Now the page says 1 motor in each A-unit just as their email reply to me.

The picture shown for Big Boy 4014 M 37995 does not mean anything in respect of the actual weathering of the model.
The picture comes from a general archive and is freely available on internet, together with other pictures of the 4014.
Just that you know.

I didn't care so much for the prototype photo but the text in the picture. "limited" and also there are other details than previous models. But I'll probably buy 26495 before 37995 anyway.

Limited means 1,200 pieces.
The model seems to have additional oil pipes the others do not have.

It seems those were introduced with 37994.
I presume the 37995 will be a weathered 37994, but without big ears and with a new number. If my guess should be true, tender and oil cooler would be different from 37993 and earlier models.

Hi,

Looking at photos with semaphore and light signals on an overhead bridge, I realise that Marklins digital signals (including the new semaphore versions) are perfect candidates for placing on overhead gantries, or bridges.

All Marklin need do, is design and produce a pedestrian bridge, or signal gantry, with the current path in place, and hey presto.

Not something you could do with the older solenoid types.

regards
Kimball

The new semaphore signals use servo motors. I don't expect to see a fully flexible gantry version of those (we'll see how large the servo will be).

With light signals, this can be done more easily. Viessmann do it, Märklin do not yet. They didn't yet announce new light signals, did they?
Four of the 76xxx light signals are sold out and no longer in production. Those would allow a gantry version (requiring two wires per signal).

Tom

Normally "new mfx semaphores" means that they will be automatically recognized & registered by the CS2 ...As for mfx locomotives we don't have to deal with adress registering & etc... just because we don't need adresses anymore...ThumpUp Cool BigGrin
In concrete terms : we connect the signal to the programming track and we just have to select a location in the keyboard ?...it would be great, !
Another solution is that they will be displayed automatically in the keyboard, then we change the name & the location only if we want...That would be great too....may be better !

BTW : I will not be surprised if the actual light signals will be converted into mfx as well, on a near future, probably on 2014...

The Trix fine art lok at the end is quite cool. Is this new from Trix? Or have they been making brass models for a while now? Would be good to see something like this from Marklin.

Trix didn't make Fine Art models for several years now.
They also offer three-rail versions, so this will not come in a Märklin box.

The Di 3 on the on the table was originally intended by Märklin to go with the DI 3 starter set. However, the Norwegian Märklin dealer Amundsen Hobby, ordered the green DI 3 as a special model, item number 37686. This will be available in August/September at a price 2950 NOK. There will only be produced 500 pieces.

the carriages with this loco above had been first produced in 1989 worldwide (passenger car 4243) and the baggage car in 1990 (4242) and over the years became quite valuable, at the time, I believe it was an export model only.

I'm interested in one BR 86 from 37862 double set and now viewing details in the New items brochure 2013 (just received it).

Here is mentioned that Era III version has the function "Switcher Double ""A"" Light".
However, the model shown on p.62 (Era III version) obviously has just 2 headlights in front - so it's unknown for me how "Double ""A"" Light" with lights change over can be implemented.

At the same time, Era IV version (p.63) is really fitted with 3 headlights in front - this is also clearly visible on the picture - so here "Double ""A"" Light" function with lights change over can be implemented for sure.

BR 86 is one of my fave steamer classes, so I will try to get Era III version this year regardless that "Double ""A"" Light" missing.
