Hi All,
Mark (MM-MarkMontreal) has asked me to visit the previously mentioned Antique shop in Haarlem to check a few trains for him.
So I went to Haarlem today.
I had much fun speaking with Andre for more than one hour.
Andre was formerly employed by the NS (Dutch Railways) and is a true Marklin enthusiast for over 45 years now.
The antique store had much used Marklin for sale, I have seen at least 20 models of 3051, maybe 30 and almost all in perfect condition and almost all with their original box.
Certainly more than 350 analog Marklin loco's for sale
.
You can find Marklin trains everywhere in the shop... in showcases, in drawers, in cupboards, under the counter...everywhere.
Andre showed me a set of Fleischmann trains that were five years ago reserved by a customer but never picked up, but Andre kept them still reservated.
Unfortunately I could only make two (poor) pictures today.
It was much more fun if I had also photographed some Holy Mary statues (the shop is full with Holy Mary statues), or the lovely entrance of the shop.
I will do that on my next visit.

Thanks for visiting Marco,
From this distance it looks very enticing .... seeing them in hand and testing would be even better.
Plus seeing my father's hometown and childhood home would be the biggest motivator...
... one day in the not too distant future.
More later in PM

Hi Ian,
Not that close, about 55 kilometers, one hour drive.
But I have 3 MRR shops in my hometown, on the bike I'm there in 10 minutes.

Hi Marco,
You're very lucky, I've never been in a shop that sells Märklin, maybe just as well.

Marco,
I would like to say that so far I have found my dealings with Andre to be excellent. I am in the process of paying for my order, and so when they arrive I will post some pictures on the Forum, so people can see the kind of quality of the items for sale.
Thanks again for the link and for your initial help in making contact.
BR

Hi Glenn,
Andre told me that he had contact with you.
The payment part is always the least fun of buying MRR stuff.....
Andre told me he accept PayPal, Credit Cards and bank transfer.
I look forward to your photos !

Hi Marco, great pictures. Does Andre have a website? I would love to have an antique shop like that around me, that is really my kind of antique shop.

As you may recall thanks to Marco's excellent link, I decided to make a purchase or two from the antique shop, and with Marco's help initially my goods arrived on Friday. Over the weekend I managed to take some photos to show you my purchases and a few close up shots to show you the overall quality of the goods. Generally their are no boxes for the items (one loco has) but I was just very happy to find a good supply of tin plate coaches in good condition, which did not require a mortgage to buy. By the way from the main overall photo there are two Silberling coaches missing, I only realised some time later and I apologies but I could not be bother to unpack everything just to add two coaches.
Oh, I would also like to say that the couple who run the shop, were very friendly and very helpful, I cannot praise them enough, in addition they offered me a discount with my order and free postage to UK.
So here is my purchase;
Some close ups of the items bought, coaches selected at random;
Finally, I would like to thank Marco once again for such an excellent contact.
BR
Glenn

Ian.
Thanks Ian, Up close there are some marks and scratches, and some small isolated rust spots, but all that can be expected of tinplate coaches almost 50 years old!!!!
I am very pleased and in fact four of the coaches are currently being dragged round by dogbone layout. It is a result

Good stuff, especially the coaches...to me it seems very hard to find tinplate coaches without rust or paint decay on the roof.

Hi Glenn,
Wow, that is a comprehensive purchase ! I see so much sweet things...
I'm glad I could help, but actually I haven't done much, except the link and my report of my visit to the Antique shop.
Andre and his wife Liesbeth are indeed very friendly and helpful.

Hi Glenn
Can't you see that green glow from afar as I look at the pictures of your purchases.
Mind you that last one of the lok is probably a bit too modern for me.
If you want unblemised roofs then we'll talk at the next BW meeting

Thanks Alan.
I agree it is very hard to find decent condition tin plate coaches. So I am very happy. I have had five of them going around my dogbone loop for a week.....great

Agreed 100%
Unless you are lucky enough to find some boxed versions. I must have about ten different types of tin plate coach which are still in the box, with the brown paper and the white inspection tag. The roofs are in excellent condition, but even then, I bet there is till very slight rusting on body or underside or couplings, and I have come to the conclusion with tin plate coaches that it is simply a fact of life.

Marco,
But that was enough.
