Lovely Ian.
A toy from Brio is something every swedish child has played with at one time or another. Myself included of course!

Well, I'm looking at mine right now...
Only made in 2000 pieces, according to various sources... Usually goes for around 100 Euros on Ebay.de...
Have seen it in stock at 2 Swedish stores, one for 98 Euros and one for about 160 Euros...
Here's the 98 Euro one -

Hi Per,
Thanks very much.
I've read thro' your PM, and although not as easy as hitting the "Buy it Now" button, I'll try it tomorrow.

Ian.
You are welcome.
An alternative could of course be to send an eMail to
info@trainshop.se
, if it is too much of a headache navigate through their Internet shop which is in Swedish only.

Hi all,
Thanks to an e-mail from my good friend Jeremy, I managed to purchase 42702 coach, here in the UK.
And at what was a very competitive price.
As usual, photo's when it arrives.
Thanks again Jeremy, for giving me first shout.
Ian.

A word of advise if you are looking at buying this, the 2870/2670 set or any other set for that matter. These sets are nearly 25 and 10 years old. There were singular locomotives and set extension cars sold as well. Some of these sets have the wrong car(s) or engine for the set being sold. There is a 2870 set on Ebay.de with a 3170 engine in it. Besides the road number, the 2870 engine has sprung (and often broken) buffers, different pantographs, a cover for the body mount screw on the roof, revised coupler brackets that use snap in close couplers instead of the one piece relex coupler/bracket of the 3170 and four pieces added to the roof, one on each side of the pantographs. Some sets have an extension car instead of the cars with the correct road number for the set. This last happened to me with a 28702 set. One of the cars was a 42702 expansion car. Ask questions and look closely at the photos. Also note that the photos presented may not represent the set you may actually receive. This is what happened with the 28702 set I bought. The picture was right, what I received was not. Most of these are being sold by dealers with lots of feedback and consequently lots of archived photos of products they have sold. I am not suggesting fraud here, my bet is the dealers do not even know of the mistake, just that it's easier to use an existing photo instead of taking new photos of the set actually being sold.
This site
has been most helpful in determining the correct road numbers for the sets. Pay attention to feedback. Not just the percentage of happy customers, but how many feedback they have. If they have dozens or hundreds of items for sale and low feedback numbers with a recent ebay membership, ask questions. Ebay has been around for nearly 15 years, if you have that much inventory, which will take a long time to build up, but only a few hundred feedback, they may have been at ebay before with another name. If you are paying collector/like new prices, then that is exactly what you should receive.
Matt
Era 3
DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe
But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Will (Modellbahn Collectors) confirms that he has 2670 for me. Reports condition to be most acceptable
. Regretfully the collection it came from did not
have the extension coaches 4270 and 4271
but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they have been sourced
.

Hi Jeremy,
My coach 42702 has never arrived (23rd May), and no return phone calls.
Time to go public.......maybe give him another week because of the situation.
What do you think???

Hi Ian - Your patience is longer than mine. You should have a copy of e-mail I sent, sorry this has happened. Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy,
This is in no way your problem, I'm sure it will work out ok.
Life is way to short to worry over a Märklin coach.
Thanks for the e-mail, will keep you updated.
